PC restarts when loading games

i have a K7N2G Motherboard, AMD Athlon XP 2500+, Geforce 5200 LE 256 MB, 768MB RAM, 400 W power supply.

For some reason when ever I try to load Need for Speed Underground 2, HALO, Hitman Contracts etc. before it loads the game the screen goes black (like its about to load) then just restarts itself. I am completely in the dark about this. Doom 3 is choppy also (when I fire a shotgun shell for example i hear 3 or 4 shots going off when I jus fire one). I tried adjusting my display settings and audio settings, all my drivers are up to date. If anybody has any insight please respond.

If you right click my computer select properties then advanced then click on settings in the section that says startup and recovery then uncheck the box that says automatically restart also set the write debugging information to none.

Now when your system crashes you will get a an error message which may tell you what caused the problem.

Look to see if any drivers are identified in the stop message.

Then post the results here being careful to include things like irq-not-less-or-equal and any numbers etc.

Ok I did that, the error that comes up is "Your system has just recovered from a serious error" Then it asks me if I wish to send the report to MS. So it doesn't really help me much.

Take a look in the event vewer under system right click on the error and select properties and see what it says.

You could also click on the link for the MS support centre and have a look at what it says.

just for the record & also if anybody knows what this means. This is what the event viewer says

"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000008e (0xc0000005, 0x000003c5, 0xb9782cc8, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini111904-03.dmp.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp."

That kind of an error is usually caused by drivers, I guess in this case graphics drivers, or does it list any filenames?

0x1000008e = KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

0xC0000005 = STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION (memory access violation)

If you have any memory shadowing options set in BIOS, disable them.

The ANV4DISP.DLL identified is your video driver.

Download and install the latest drivers.
