Networking with Windows and Linux for newbie

Hey up.
I feel that WindowsXP has let me down now one too many time.
I'm sick of losing work, constantly having to update, the system crashing, etc and feel that it's time for a change.
I have scrapped WXP (on the laptop), foramatted the HD and downloaded and installed Linux SUSE 9.1 and am now trying to get my head around it. I have managed to set up my sound card, monitor, etc and everything is looking great but now I am stuck on networking and internet.
Before my questions I'll give you my specs...

Main PC

750Mhz HP Pavillion
256Mb RAM
Windows XP (SP1)
330Gb HD NTFS
DVDWR (4x 16x 40x)
CDWR (2x 4x 40x)
100Mb Zip
Connected to BT Yoyager 2100 ADSL Router via Netowrk Cable
(running at 512Kbps, soon to be 1Mps)

LAPTOP
******
1.5Ghz (sorry don't know make)
256Mb RAM
Linux SUSE 9.1
20Gb HD NTFS
DVD ROM CDWR (4x 16x 40x)
Connected to BT Voyager 2100 ADSL via BT Voyager 1060 Wireless Card

So my questions are...
1. How do I install the driver for the 1060? (I have a CD but it's for Windows)
2. Is it possible to network an XP computer with a Linux laptop?
2a. If so, how?
3. How do I share the internet connection between the two?

I know its possible with XP but Im new to Linux and haven't got a clue where to start.
Sorry for rambling on.
Any help is much appreciated.

PS. Is it true that there are no DVD player for Linux? Why?

1. If SuSE didn't recognise the adapter then you either have to find out what chip that voyager thing uses and then install the drivers manualy. Or use Windows drivers via ndiswrapper. Either way it is a lot of hard work :(

2a: What do you want to do?
3: Since you have a router then it should already work.

The only thing im concerned about now is connecting to the internet using my laptop (SUSE 9.1). How do I find the 'chip' and 'install manually'?

type this command in the command prompt and post what it says:

/sbin/ifconfig

if you see eth0 as an identified adapter, then SUSE recognised your network adapter.

you can share files between windows and linux using samba.
