vnf4ultra 12-15-2005, 09:49 AM Count me in on the contest. -vnf4ultra MoFoEd 12-15-2005, 10:15 AM I already have a 7800GT card but another one would be grat for SLI! Great contest. And the GPU is awesome as it is, 2 would be amazing :D Ad 12-15-2005, 10:15 AM kaycbee 12-15-2005, 10:18 AM Dude, you have no idea how much I could love a new graphics card... much GeForce4 440 MX is just too outdated to handle anything these days; maybe it's big brother could help me out? Kev_Boy 12-15-2005, 10:58 AM Like our fellow smiley here :hotbounce I'd jump through fire for one of these bad boys, count me in. Through this competition I also came in touch with these boards so - Hello everyone! mastronaut 12-15-2005, 11:07 AM Man, I would love to upgrade my graffix card! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! :) CrossFire851 12-15-2005, 11:15 AM This is great I would have been first to post but there was only the one at the top so I thought it was the wrong place. anyways to good. adamf4i 12-15-2005, 11:30 AM specs look pretty good on this card whoever gets it will be pleased Visigoth 12-15-2005, 11:44 AM Not sure my system would take the new vid card. I have a AGP slot. Could take a sound card or a scanner though. spartanslayer 12-15-2005, 12:29 PM I'm planning on building a new system over Christmas break. Perfect chance to go SLI, as I was planning on getting one. Or I could save $350 on a new one. FrumpD63 12-15-2005, 12:50 PM With a free $350 card, a motherboard upgrade would be well worthwhile. Theyre relatively cheap and you could still use all the other components. Ad 12-15-2005, 12:50 PM mentaljedi 12-15-2005, 01:12 PM I'm game! I got a Geforce 2 MX, not very good, so i could use a new one. Happy posting! JimL 12-15-2005, 01:18 PM count me in!!! :) Mirob 12-15-2005, 01:37 PM I have a vacant PCI-E slot, lol. In in. nimo333 12-15-2005, 01:38 PM Hmm, you people all say that there is a prize and I got to win it; did you think that it may not be compatible with your PCs. Did anyone mention if it's VGA or 16x express or what? spartanslayer 12-15-2005, 02:38 PM I was searching computer news last night when I found this article. http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/12/14/sneak_preview_of_the_nvidia_quad_gpu_setup/ Check it out! nathanskywalker 12-15-2005, 02:39 PM hope no one minds if i jump in here... personally i preffer ATI, but free, hey willing to give that a shot! whaooo, need a new card anyway, lol blew up my ocmputer, literally, bad accident, huh but nvm. So yeah there goes my Radeon 9600 :(. so here i am along with you all, need VIDEO CARD...nyway nathanskywalker 12-15-2005, 02:41 PM I was searching computer news last night when I found this article. http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/12/14/sneak_preview_of_the_nvidia_quad_gpu_setup/ Check it out! Sweeeetnneesss, i've heard you could do that, split the work between to video cards. Lol, problem for those who don't have that kinda money though. spartanslayer 12-15-2005, 02:50 PM About 99% of guys in the world can't afford that setup, but it's still pretty cool. maypo52 12-15-2005, 02:56 PM Pick me! Pick me! :bounce: coldgin 12-15-2005, 03:22 PM please count me in, wife won't let me upgrade my FX5900XT for xmas, even thought she spent thousands on the kids. Rage_3K_Moiz 12-15-2005, 03:30 PM As the Techspot story says, the Xbox 360 has been oversupplied in Japan. But doesn't it seem strange that while the US market is suffering such shortages, the Japanese market has so many of the consoles, some of the retailers even reducing prices to "get rid of stock" as per Techspot. I mean, how can u supply such a huge number of consoles to Japan, when the biggest market for Microsoft is supposed to be the US? Or is it just a ploy to gain the attention of the millions of PS2 worshippers in Japan who r waiting desperately for the PS3? spartanslayer 12-15-2005, 03:33 PM Actually, I'm not sure there is such a big defecit of Consoles in America. I have been in Compusa, Target, and Frys, and they all have extras sitting around. The target had at least 5 Premiums on display. I'm begining to think the shortage is a hoax. Cravenmorehead 12-15-2005, 03:34 PM This is my first entry into a giveaway contest....Good Luck To ME!! LOL CravenMorehead A True Noob CriticalMass 12-15-2005, 03:44 PM ok ok, the winner has just arrived. Go ahead and send me the vidcard. :D Rage_3K_Moiz 12-15-2005, 03:45 PM I agree spartanslayer. It seems Microsoft has resorted to dumb tactics like these to sell more of the Xbox 360s. It seems the plan is backfiring, coz' many people r getting fed up of being told that there is a "shortage" of the console. Also, what about the crashed that have been reported by some people who purchased it. Agreed, some of the crashes may have been caused by the game system overheating (thanks to CoLD_SToRAGE on the Techspot forums who enlightened us with the above information), but who are u gonna blame if the chip inside gets screwed at the opening screen of Halo 2? The early launch seems to have had a sub-standard product delivered to customers who had been waiting for a next-generation console for ages. Rage_3K_Moiz 12-15-2005, 03:49 PM Not that I hate Microsoft or anything. I love my Xbox, I really do. But if the customers aren't gonna complain, who is? I mean, its us who's losing isn't it? This will affect Microsoft too, coz more widespread incidents like this are going to tarnish its already "not to squeaky-clean" reputation. spartanslayer 12-15-2005, 03:52 PM I didn't mean to sound like I hate Microsoft or anything, I love them. They have a great os, an awesome console, and great games (Halo, Dungeon Siege). I just was saying there really isn't a shortage in CA anyway. Finchy 12-15-2005, 04:13 PM A grand givaway to be sure. While i will have to buy lots of other parts I think it's well worth. I look forward to participating in theis excellent contest and I wish you all the best of luck. Those who've seen my thread in Cooling and Modding know I am planning to build a nw PC. If I win, the current plans go out the window, in with better parts. May the best man (or woman) win! On with the show, tally ho wot, wot. Finchy 12-15-2005, 04:25 PM Now onto a topic. I do not have a console (go PC'S :grinthumb :D ) but if I was to get one the Xbox series is probably the one I go for. People have been complaining hugely about the problems with the XBox 360, but I think we should look at past consoles to see if it is alone. I think not! My best friends have an Xbox AND a PS2, yet they rarely play on the PS2 anymore for two reason. A- the Xbox is moe powerful with much better games, and B- Most games have stopped running on the PS2, it just won't accept them for no real reason. It's just broken. Iv heard that this is fairly widespread. Yes they should deliver a high quality product, but we shouldn't pillory them just because it has some faults, when most other consoles also have faults. It's time to accept that the consoles will always be launched with rare or common problems. It's time to sop whinging and accept that it can't be helped. This doesn't mean however, that a company (not specifically Microsoft, the reported problems are very rare) should get away with sub-standard hardware. This doesn't mean however, that a company (not specifically Microsoft, the reported problems are very rare) should get away with sub-standard hardware. Yeah. But the fact is that there will be games on the PS3 that will never come out on the Xbox 360 and vice versa. The former will be moreso because of the relatively lower power of the Xbox 360 when compared to the PS3. It simply won't be able to run some of the games. Think Metal Gear Solid 6 ;) However, the main question was that, why is there such a huge difference in reported stock? Julio 12-15-2005, 04:43 PM Regarding international shipping and customs... I haven't decided what company will be used, I guess it depends on the country. As for customs, I can ship with a note saying it's a gift and the cost is $1 or something like that. vhunter 12-15-2005, 04:51 PM Wow, I could get a card to replace my nVidia 5200. I'm in! Finchy 12-15-2005, 04:56 PM For supply shortages, the simple fact is they are selling faster tha Microsoft can manufacture them. As for the Asian market, the reason they have such large stocks is that they are happy with what they've got, it'll be a while before the sales figures really start to roll in. One example is Korea, one of their major games is Starcraft, a game several yeas old. They are simply happy with what they've got, they don't do ravening after power quite so much as we do. Also, you say the PS3 is more powerful, but I think you shouldn't just trust specs, they don't matter as much now as they did three years ago, look at the Radeon X1800XT. This information is from the PCGamer UK review. If you look at the specs (the lesser pipeline count ect), apart from the memory the 7800GTX is superior, but in actual tests, they are neck and neck, and at higher settings the Radeon kicks the pants of the Geforce. It is also the only card that cand run HDR and anti-aliasing. Its' all down to the technologies they use and how well they use them. You may be right, the PS3 may be better than the XBox 360, but until real benchmarks are available, we can make no assumptions. Another point, am I the only one thats noticed that as consoles have got better they've become more like PC's. Coincidence? shl0791 12-15-2005, 04:59 PM I want in, please let me have this video card!!! so that I can finally put to rest my nice voodoo2. Rage_3K_Moiz 12-15-2005, 05:06 PM So Microsoft produced a below-average piece of work but I think pretty soon the problems will be fixed and the Xbox 360 will rule the roost. At least until the PS3 arrives. Rage_3K_Moiz 12-15-2005, 05:13 PM Microsoft shifted from NVIDIA to ATI for their graphics on the Xbox 360. According to PCGamer UK, as Finchy said, the X1800 XT is superior to the 7800 GTX right? But won't NVIDIA just come up with a better graphics chip and maybe that chip might go into the PS3. What then? My Question: Will Microsoft's move to integrate ATI graphics into the Xbox 360 take a beating from superior NVIDIA technology that MIGHT be integrated into the PS3? shumway 12-15-2005, 05:18 PM Great way to grab eyeballs... spartanslayer 12-15-2005, 05:32 PM Well, in the console wars, there is only one deciding factor, the games. The PS3 may have more games, but the Xbox 360 has the Halo series. It also has Perfect Dark Zero, and Call of Duty 2. Get whichever console has the games you want, and don't worry about the specs. nathanskywalker 12-15-2005, 06:00 PM lol, yeahya halo!!!!! whaooo, i think that counts for alot as far as gaming goes. Thought technically the ps3 has much more..lifting power, as i do believe some might have already pointed out. Meaning with multiple cores, well yeah i think it has like 9 cores right? santi717 12-15-2005, 06:41 PM Any PC gamer would have to be crazy not to at least enter this contest. Good luck to everyone! PEACE Gazelleboy 12-15-2005, 06:48 PM Mee Wantee! flavin 12-15-2005, 08:41 PM yes count me in for the contest. and good luck to all this could actually turn out to be the best christmas yet Eleventeen 12-15-2005, 08:45 PM Woohoo, Im in. If I win the board, I will get Fear. nathanskywalker 12-15-2005, 09:30 PM Personally, i don't play many video games at the moment, more like i need money to rebuild my computer so...well yeah..but did play halo(trial lol) starcraft medal of honor guildwars star wars jedi academy and lots of other whatever...and demos...course i think the 7800 could easily, well i don't think those would even test that card, would have to go get like something with a little heaftier list of requierments to do that. Tedster 12-15-2005, 09:37 PM whoo hoo! I hope I win! kenjiro310 12-15-2005, 09:45 PM video card me PC_Nerd 12-15-2005, 10:06 PM Man i need a new card, my geforce 5600 just dosent cut it anymore |
