This is a great idea julio, i remember the thread you posted asking us what we wanted you to give away in a competition. i really agree with the idea of you being able to compensate for the 7800gt. good to see you actually took into account what everyone was saying on that thread. imagine giving some poor bugger a 7800gt and him trying to put it into an old socket A board or something. Also the geographical thing was also a big winner in my books not actually being only american or canadian based makes a big difference. i really hated it when ATI and NVIDIA would get a competition going and i wouldn't be able to qualify because i'm Australian. I haven't posted in quite some time really but i've been getting my usual techspot update every morning at work. would you be able to release statistics of how many people came from being idle to fully fledged techspot members because of this competition?

You think your card's lame.... it was only about a year ago that I upgraded from an fx5200 (which came stock with no fan, just a puny heatsink) to my fx5600, which absolutely blew it out of the water!!
Now imagine if I got a 7800, thats 2 whole serieses of upgrade, :haha: It'd be just like a year ago, all over again!!!

yeah the problem with video cards is that you have to upgrade them every 6-9months to have something at least relatively up to date. staying Mid range is always the best way i see it. the 6600GT was Mid range when i got one and it still is comparitively powerful to the price one is o pay for it. the 7800 series is powerful but when will the Mid range 7600's be coming ? they will be the cards to watch. if they follow trends you should see it for $350au on initial release and $250au in 6 months. meaning happier gamers :)

Lol, i know exactly how those people feel. last February, i had to tear out the carpet in my house so my mom could buy me a better card than my 32mb SOMETHING that was in my stock eMachines. She bought me a GeForce 5500 FX which ran CS:S ok with like 40fps, then with that new HDR(High Dynamic Range) update last september, my fps ranges from 25 and down to 9fps when i'm shooting, it sucks when your main game isn't playable anymore. I ended up having to go back to 1.6:(

Hey, philosophically speaking, it's human nature to get more than what u already have. So give 'em a break.As for ur system spartanslayer, man I used to have a PII 266 Mhz just like 2 years back. That relic had a Riva TNT2 and 128MB of RAM. The only thing you could play on it without it freezing up was Unreal Tournament :P

you may have a passive cooler on the video card, they don't really do much for games. try upgrading the cooling on it. you can get the Vantec iceberg or i think thermaltake make something too. just change it over and you'll be fine. i have had a lot of problems with passive cards. not with the sapphire 9700 ultimate. that was HUGE!!!!

I read an article about the ATX style motherboards versus the BTX style. it doesn't really say one is better than the other but they have their pro's and cons. so is this the latest rage? BTX seems pretty good with the redirection of airflow across the processor with the blower fan and across the pci slots with the vented air slot in the bottom with select models to better circulate air. but dunno cuz i was thinking about this new system to build of mine and i came across this. And i think the motherboard slots are flipped left to right right to left. does anybody have any BTX style Cases with the BTX style motherboards? comments post fa sho

Google Earth is Definitely Impressive!!! i can see my house!! wow. the satellite images are incrideble. this is a bargain for a free program i am real tempted to get the full version. and it's real nice you can make little map notes. and it can do mapquest functions like tell you how to get to point A to point B. how many people have used this program? definitely check it out it is NICE! and it's FREE!
