cfitzarl 01-04-2007, 11:20 PM I was just wondering what you think of Techspot, fellow members and staff :D ! Now let's see who's loyal! wolfram 01-04-2007, 11:29 PM Techspot is an excellent site. It has really helped me a lot. It's full of great people. Really good site :) :) :) Ad 01-04-2007, 11:29 PM Jesse_hz 01-04-2007, 11:29 PM My vote: "Hail It!" Not like I dared vote anything else... Rik 01-04-2007, 11:29 PM TechSpot is the dogs dangly bits without a doubt!!:) wolfram 01-04-2007, 11:30 PM Three members posted at the same time: 8:29 PM lol :haha: cfitzarl 01-04-2007, 11:36 PM I have learned most of my facts about technology from this site, that's why I said hail it ;). Three members posted at the same time: 8:29 PM lol That's really weird... howard_hopkinso 01-05-2007, 12:12 AM My vote: "Hail It!" Not like I dared vote anything else... Me too mate ;) It`s a great place to be and long may it continue. Regards Howard :) Jesse_hz 01-05-2007, 12:26 AM OMG?! Who voted "Great!"? AtK SpAdE 01-06-2007, 01:30 AM I did, sorry Julio and the like, please dont permaban me! :p That goes for you too Howard. cfitzarl 01-06-2007, 02:07 AM At least we have one member who isn't completely addicted to Techspot ;) . Ad 01-06-2007, 02:07 AM MetalX 01-06-2007, 02:16 AM I voted great too. (hides in a bombproof shelter) Only because of those damn ads that pop up when u put the mouse over certain words. If it weren't for them I woulda put Hail it! cfitzarl 01-06-2007, 02:29 AM I voted great too. (hides in a bombproof shelter) Only because of those damn ads that pop up when u put the mouse over certain words. If it weren't for them I woulda put Hail it! The only thing is that without them, Techspot would have gone bankrupt a while ago. They help keep this website up and running. jtickner1 01-06-2007, 06:17 AM techspot is good as, half my problems would still be hiding away in the back of my comp if it wasnt for this site Boogityboo04 01-06-2007, 04:39 PM Well then who voted "useful"? CONFESS SINNERS WHILE YE CAN STILL BE SAVED! I voted "Hail it" because Techspot is one of the better forum "communities." I mean, try going over the the Toms Hardware forums and you'll see what I mean. cfitzarl 01-06-2007, 05:11 PM Well then who voted "useful"? CONFESS SINNERS WHILE YE CAN STILL BE SAVED! I voted "Hail it" because Techspot is one of the better forum "communities." I mean, try going over the the Toms Hardware forums and you'll see what I mean. I was on google and I saw this article where someone was asking whether they should get nVidia or ATI and the moderator said "nVidia" and no reasoning, and also no information. Tecshpot is the most "in depth" forums I've seen (although, I am not a member of any other forums). Grafficks 01-06-2007, 06:31 PM TechSpot, I hereby sentence you to continue being such a frickin' awesome site. :grinthumb (yes, I voted "Hail it!") wolfram 01-06-2007, 09:29 PM I normally spend more than 3-4 hours daily here on TS :) Of course, I voted "Hail it"!! zephead 01-07-2007, 03:57 AM i wouldn't spend time here if it wasn't worth it! TS is definitely one of the best computer sites out there. SNGX1275 01-08-2007, 11:19 AM Things that suck (general observations): Thread titles aren't discriptive of the problem. Average posts per thread before problem is solved is too high. Unable to get answers for more technical/complex problems. Poor thread titles get plenty of responses, encouraging this poor behavior rather than discouraging it. This also makes it much harder to find what you are looking for while using the search feature. Ritwik7 01-08-2007, 11:24 AM Hail It!!! Been a member only just & I love it! Thank you guys! You're wonderful! RealBlackStuff 01-09-2007, 11:33 AM TS is Okay, BUT... Answers given here used to be a lot more concise. Too many people with not enough knowledge now try to answer the questions. If you don't know what you are talking about, you should not answer a post. drawls31 01-10-2007, 02:55 AM Hail it! You people have helped me a lot. Thanks for answering all my stupid questions. Mictlantecuhtli 01-10-2007, 06:11 AM It used to be something worth of "Great!", now just okay. Rik 01-10-2007, 06:13 AM RBS, I don't wish to cause an argument but I was always led to believe that TechSpot is by the people and for the people. People such as myself give time freely in order to help others, and I believe that is what TechSpot is all about. I would like to remind you of what it says just below the TechSpot banner " News and views for the technology enthusiasts". halo71 01-10-2007, 09:28 AM RBS, I don't wish to cause an argument but I was always led to believe that TechSpot is by the people and for the people. People such as myself give time freely in order to help others, and I believe that is what TechSpot is all about. I would like to remind you of what it says just below the TechSpot banner " News and views for the technology enthusiasts". Yeah but you got to admit, RBS has a valid point. I have been around here since 2005, have less than 300 posts. Not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to fixing computers either. And I have seen MANY people answer posts that I knew were clueless about the problem a person is having. You also have to admit that there are certain people here that you KNOW what they say is correct. Ex: RBS, SNGX, Howard, Didou, Nodsu, Arris.....and several others, sorry who I forgot. But these afore mentioned folks have helped me several times. Not from the questions I asked in particular. But rather the questions that other people have asked and the replies they got from the ones I mention above. Rik 01-10-2007, 09:39 AM TechSpot is called an open forum for a very good reason. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes whether we have been members for a long time or not. I feel it is important that everyone be allowed to have their say provided they remain within the rules of TechSpot. I don't know about anyone else but I have certainly not seen any rules against attempting to help someone. I for one would not like to see TechSpot become one of those forums where you can wait several weeks for a reply because there are not enough people to answer all the questions. I would say that this is a very valid point. halo71 01-10-2007, 09:57 AM I think you are missing my point. Lets say for argument sake. You are brand new to computers. You know nothing about them. You join TS and ask the question......My CD-Rom drive has stopped responding, what is wrong with it? And then I come along and answer your post and say something like......The reason your CD-Rom has stopped working is because you need to replace your monitor. You go out and spend the money on a new one and you still have this problem. You would be a little aggravated. Now most people would have a little more sense than to believe that. Its just an example....... :D Rik 01-10-2007, 10:08 AM I get your point, but in that situation it would be better to hear from several people rather than just a select few. I must admit though, I have come across a few people that would be as gullible as that.:D halo71 01-10-2007, 10:20 AM I get your point, but in that situation it would be better to hear from several people rather than just a select few. I must admit though, I have come across a few people that would be as gullible as that.:D Exactly!!!! :) But how many people might think...."this site is really good, they got to know what they are talking about"......and rush out and buy something they dont need. Or make changes to their PC without hearing more input from anyone else. I think we both agree on this..... :D And while we are on the subject.....How annoying is it too see post with a header of "PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE HELP ME"? OR the same old "eMachines help needed" or BSOD help needed over and over??? It would be interesting to see how many times a day people actually use the search button here! Is that possible??? SNGX1275 01-10-2007, 12:23 PM I cover a great deal of these complaints in the guide that is stickied in Introduce Yourself and at the bottom of my signature and a few other people's. Unfortunately people don't read it, if they did 90% of the problems with these forums would vanish. RealBlackStuff 01-10-2007, 03:14 PM I only vented my personal opinion, I am not crusading here! But I am sure most people would rather have no answer, than a wrong answer. zephead 01-10-2007, 07:08 PM yes, the thread titles could generally use a bit of improvement. DonNagual 01-10-2007, 07:12 PM TS is Okay, BUT... Answers given here used to be a lot more concise. Too many people with not enough knowledge now try to answer the questions. If you don't know what you are talking about, you should not answer a post. I think RBS is raising a valid point here. Back in the days this forum was a little smaller, and there was a core group of people who had an extremely high level of knowledge. That was what attracted me to this forum in the first place as they were also extremely generous with their knowledge. Of course that is not to say that we do not have a lot of those same people here today, but now, as this forum grows bigger and bigger, there are a lot more reponses to posts, and it is the nature of the beast that some wrong answers are being given. I also admit that when I see that a thread has a number of responses to it already, there are times when I do not enter that thread (especially when I am limited in time) and I assume this is also true of some other senior members. There is a much higher chance today than there was a few years ago that wrong answers are being given out. The point RBS is bringing up here is a very important one. Those who are giving out answers need to be certain they are correct (and if not, to state that they are not 100% certain), as with computers a wrong answer has the potential to do damage to someone's system. alvdy 01-12-2007, 06:27 PM I voted Hail It! This sight is the best PC enthusiasts site that I have been able to find! Everyone is a great help. But yes I agree that thread titles need to be more concise. Maybe someone could write a guide on posting thread titles!!! :D DonNagual 01-12-2007, 08:45 PM There sort of already is one here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic33297.html Jesse_hz 01-13-2007, 01:27 AM Maybe someone could write a guide on posting thread titles!!! You don't need a damn guide to come up with a good thread title! Well that's my opinion and I don't believe any of the people who post threads with titles like "Help! I have problem!" can't come up with anything better, instead I believe they are simply too lazy to care about writing a good thread title. Tedster 01-13-2007, 01:44 AM People will always ignore rules and use poor grammar/ spelling online. It's only a problem when it's flagrant. A gentle reminder is all you need. Sometimes I get a little hot-tempered myself when I see people asking questions that are in the guides forum. Some people don't even bother to do basic surfing to answer their own questions. cfitzarl 01-13-2007, 06:05 PM People will always ignore rules and use poor grammar/ spelling online. Some people don't even bother to do basic surfing to answer their own questions. If it were'nt for those people I would still be a newcomer in training :D ! I would say that 3/4 of my posts on other threads would be gone if poeple listened to the FAQ's or searched the forums. alvdy 01-13-2007, 08:25 PM You don't need a damn guide to come up with a good thread title! I know we dont need a tutorial on just that i was only joking lol. I agree with you that some people are just too lazy to put a proper title! I always put a relevant title so that people like Howard etc are drawn to them so that I can get the best answers to my questions!!! Cheers N1Hawk 01-14-2007, 05:22 PM I Hail It because it is useful and helpful information! Long Live TS! ragebflame 01-14-2007, 06:13 PM Techspot has solved every problem I have trown at it so far. I am now begining to look to help some peoples problems. Keep up the great work Guru's doktaluv 01-15-2007, 01:41 AM forgive the leet-speak, but techspot roxxorz my boxxorz. This was the first place I beelined to when my system was being kaput and all problems were easily solved (crossing fingers on some minor issues but only time will tell!) The users are extra-friendly and totally willing to help and what's more, the advice is GOOD! if techspot was ebay i'd be saying 'A+++++++++ perfect buyer/seller' greatman05 01-19-2007, 01:33 PM You are some of the most helpful people I've seen. I haven't seen any sarcasm, of laughing at people's idiotic questions. You guys are the reason I visit this site. THANKS FOR MAKING TECHSPOT #1 ON MY LIST!!! Julio 01-19-2007, 03:56 PM I appreciate all your positive feedback, seriously :) Now, that said, I should remind you that TechSpot is not only the forums by themselves, but it's the news, the articles, the community feeling, and all the other resources we make available for PC enthusiasts. zephead 01-30-2007, 01:08 PM yes, the news is certainly an attraction if this site. i agree with what tedster said earlier, many people ask unnecessary questions that they could answer using google, assuming they did a bit of reading. SNGX1275 01-30-2007, 01:24 PM I appreciate all your positive feedback, seriously :) Now, that said, I should remind you that TechSpot is not only the forums by themselves, but it's the news, the articles, the community feeling, and all the other resources we make available for PC enthusiasts. Interesting you say that. The news gets almost no comments unless its contest time. I've probably only read 10 articles in the 7+ years I've been with the site. I only know Julio, Soul, Per, and Phant out of the guys that write on the front page. To me there is a huge disconnect between the front page and the forums. |
