Welcome to TechSpot! :)

If your current installation of XP takes up all the space on your harddrive, you'll need to shrink the NTFS partition using an program/application like PartitionMagic.

When that's done you'll need to set your cd/dvd drive as the first boot drive in your bios. You should be able to get into your bios by pressing either Del, Esc or F10, depending on your computer.

After that put the CD or DVD with the distribution into your computer and restart it.

Edit: Also why are you choosing to install Red Hat Linux WS 3. Are you that Fedora isn't the right choice for you?

Also if you are new to linux, I'd recommend you to try different distributions like:

Suse
+ large userbase
(dunno)

Fedora
+ large userbase
(dunno)

Ubuntu
+ great forums
+ large userbase
+ ok default theme
+ great hardware detection

DreamLinux
+ nice default theme
+ noob friendly (LOL!)
+ great hardware detection
- Beryl doesn't work if you install your video-card drivers manually (damn!)
-/+ Borrows the dock from Mac OS X

I'll update this when I get some more info, all of the above mentioned are good though.
