takaboku 03-04-2007, 11:05 AM Who's going to be there with me on opening day for 'The 300'? I am looking forward to seeing this movie!!(and yes, I saw the original back in the 60's). SNGX1275 03-04-2007, 01:18 PM I have a feeling it is going to be an absolutely terrible movie, with good CGI. Ad 03-04-2007, 01:18 PM takaboku 03-04-2007, 01:57 PM I'm not expecting the movies to win an Oscar, but I do hope it's a good, good movie( i really hate droppin' 20 bucks on a so-so or a bad movie:mad: ). Mictlantecuhtli 03-04-2007, 03:02 PM If it was like Frank Miller's novel, it would be good. But it's not - there are the usual Hollywood things added to it, such as queen Gorgo. In the novel she says only a couple of sentences on one page. That's all, no more is needed. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some token guys as well (black, asian, or whatever "minority" has to be pleased this time). almac46 03-05-2007, 04:25 AM 'The 300' This is the answer I received when enquiring about train times at Amsterdam Main Railway Station some years ago......I didn't understand it then but maybe this movie will hold the key. Can't wait. peepnklown 03-05-2007, 05:00 AM “…but large portions of the movie were made under Linux.” “Frank Miller is attached as an executive producer and consultant…and was shot mostly in bluescreen to mimic the original comic book.” I think it will be grand. Mictlantecuhtli 03-05-2007, 08:44 AM 'The 300' This is the answer I received when enquiring about train times at Amsterdam Main Railway Station some years ago......I didn't understand it then but maybe this movie will hold the key. Can't wait. No, that would be a train that goes 300 km/h :p AtK SpAdE 03-05-2007, 09:56 AM I think it will be really good, or really over the top bad. But am I willing to take that risk? Yea. Ad 03-05-2007, 09:56 AM Sjbrand99 03-05-2007, 03:03 PM Well..... im going to check it out when it comes here. Hey, takaboku, 20 bucks to see a movie (£10) where do you go to see movies? HM royal cinema??? Although in saying that I have payed 18 quid to see a movie in Leicester Square, and that was a s***y small screen anyway, AND i know that it costs alot more in other parts of London. Oh, and almac46, where bouts in Fife do you live? I am intruiged... I used to live there and am curious. PM me. takaboku 03-05-2007, 05:41 PM Hey Sjbrand99. I only go to AMC 24 to see movies. As for the 10quid, a ticket, popcorn and a drink cost 19 bucks. When I saw the first movie back in the 60's, it cost me less than dollar for everything and I got candy too. Sjbrand99 03-05-2007, 05:47 PM Inflation eh? And over here EVERYTHING is expensive... thats why Brits like going on holiday because everywhere seems cheap compared to home. lol SNGX1275 03-05-2007, 11:13 PM Here. 300 seconds of 300: http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?name=movies&id=1553704&vid=136403 Rage_3K_Moiz 03-05-2007, 11:51 PM I loved the graphic novel and the movie seems as good. Will go for it the day it releases here. :grinthumb twite 03-06-2007, 12:58 AM I didn't even know about till a couple of days ago when everyone was talking about it at lunch. When i said i didn't know anything about it they were in aw. I went home and "youtubed" the trailer, and wasn't impressed..at all. I guess it's just not kind of movie..idk. takaboku 03-06-2007, 06:14 AM Inflation eh? And over here EVERYTHING is expensive... that's why Brits like going on holiday because everywhere seems cheap compared to home. lol But you do have free medical... I'm going to San Diego this year and New York City next year and things are not cheap in either city. Heck, gas here has gone back up to $2.40 a gal:mad: takaboku 03-06-2007, 06:16 AM I guess it's just not kind of movie..idk. What kind of movies do you like?? Ad 03-06-2007, 06:16 AM Rage_3K_Moiz 03-06-2007, 11:13 AM I didn't even know about till a couple of days ago when everyone was talking about it at lunch. When i said i didn't know anything about it they were in aw. I went home and "youtubed" the trailer, and wasn't impressed..at all. I guess it's just not kind of movie..idk. It's based on a graphic novel written by Frank Miller, the same guy who wrote Sin City. If you liked Sin City's disturbing, violent noir-style vision then you might like 300 as well. almac46 03-06-2007, 03:59 PM Sjbrand99. I Live in Kirkcaldy, Sjbrand99 03-07-2007, 04:47 AM No way! I lived in Easter Kirkton. My House looked over the Tay on to the *beautiful* view of Dundee. Lol. Wierd eh? Few posters here from Scotland and we happen to know the location. twite 03-07-2007, 10:51 AM What kind of movies do you like?? Reply With Quote It's more like what kind of movies don't i like, that would narrow it down a whole lot more. I don't like sword fighting type movies (sorry for my ignorance if there is a name for those). I personally think that they are just waaay to boring, and way to predictable. I also find sword fighting very boring mostly because the same thing always happens in the end, but also in part because it is way overused in movies. Instead of putting any storyline in, they just have a bunch of people fighting the whole time. I know there is more to the movie then just sword fighting (obviously)..but idk..just not interested. Mictlantecuhtli 03-07-2007, 12:56 PM “…but large portions of the movie were made under Linux.” I think it will be grand. Does Linux make movies somehow better than other movie-making-thingies? Sjbrand99 03-07-2007, 01:26 PM I don't like sword fighting type movies (sorry for my ignorance if there is a name for those). Known as "action" movies. Lol *Offence not intended* Personally, I am really into my movies and can sit back and watch almost anything, however thrillers are my fav. Being in the film industry myself I am interested in this thread, however I do have my doubts about the 300. twite 03-07-2007, 05:05 PM Known as "action" movies That is a very, very broad category. There are many action movies i like that don't involve sword fighting. Sjbrand99 03-07-2007, 05:24 PM Agreed, however the "Predictability" part remais a constant in action weather it is sword, guns, or futuristic lasers! takaboku 03-07-2007, 05:43 PM Known as "action" movies. Lol *Offence not intended* Personally, I am really into my movies and can sit back and watch almost anything, however thrillers are my fav. Being in the film industry myself I am interested in this thread, however I do have my doubts about the 300. I like all types of movies: action, chick flicks, scifi, mysteries, thrillers and old classics. I don't like the gore movies. I saw the 1st "saw" and didn't care for it too much. The main reason I want to see "The 300" is it sorta, at least to me, like a landmark film in a small way. It might be like when I saw my first movies in color, The Wizard of Oz(for the longest time i couldn't stand monkeys..), King Kong, my first James Bond film, the spaghetti westerns, The Wild Bunch with blood flying all over the place, Star Wars.... I guess I'm just hoping to feel like a kid at the movies again.:bounce: almac46 03-08-2007, 07:30 PM Sjbrand99 There's a pic. of Aberdour Silver Sands in the gallery. I'll upload some more by and by. Regards almac46 cfitzarl 03-08-2007, 09:16 PM Someone in my History Class actually went to see it at (I think) ~5:00PM...he's been waiting for this movie for weeks/months...I'll probably see it soon :) takaboku 03-09-2007, 02:25 PM THE GODS MUST HATE ME!!! I've dodged the "bug" all winter till NOW!!! THIS JUST BLOWS!!! I was feeling so bad I had to leave work.... MAN!!!! One more thing... if anyone of you tells me how it ends, BY THE GODS I'LL HUNT YOU DOWN!!!! i just took all kinds of meds, so i'm going to bed now...:dead: cfitzarl 03-09-2007, 07:47 PM That was very off-topic and slightly vulgar for a forum if you ask me.... Rage_3K_Moiz 03-10-2007, 07:18 AM LOL I don't think it was that bad. Just a rant, not a post swearing at or ridiculing someone is it? Rayss523 03-10-2007, 08:07 AM So I saw it already and I liked it, reminded me of Sin City the way it was shot so if you like that movie you would probably like 300. BTW it has lots of TNA and the CGI was Very Good Rage_3K_Moiz 03-11-2007, 12:17 AM According to Showbiz Weekly it's earned $27.7 million on it's opening Friday. More reason to go watch it? I'd like to think so... takaboku 03-13-2007, 10:35 AM That was very off-topic and slightly vulgar for a forum if you ask me.... "off-topic" The topic was seeing the movie. I got sick, I couldn't go and plans had been made with family and friends.... I was venting and joking. If you couldn't see that, you need to get out more cfitzarl. AtK SpAdE 03-13-2007, 10:41 AM I thought it was very good. The plot wasnt the most exciting but I didnt go for the plot. :D Rage_3K_Moiz 03-14-2007, 01:23 AM It is based on the well-known legend of the battle of Thermopylae. And the plot in the graphic novel was quite complex and good, so I don't see why it wouldn't be the same in the movie, seeing that Frank Miller is an Executive Producer of the movie which means he probably oversaw the development to the T. P.S.->No, I haven't seen the movie yet, since it's releasing here on the 22nd. #%#@$! takaboku 03-14-2007, 08:06 AM Since you haven't seen, I want spoil it for you by telling you have it ends. Sjbrand99 03-14-2007, 09:10 AM But I will..... basicly the inspector finds out and when he the guy tries too flee he ends up meeting the marksman that killed his brother and he gets shot down just before he can kill him. It is quite remarkable Rage_3K_Moiz 03-14-2007, 11:02 AM @takaboku, I have read the graphic novel so I know what to expect. :) @Sjbrand99, WTF are you talking about?! twite 03-25-2007, 08:24 PM My review of 300- -300 men vs. a whole bunch of transvestites, with gore. I actually enjoyed the fighting scene more then i thought, because it was right to the point. (slash, dead). But besides that i found myself thinking...when the hell is this going to be over. Rage_3K_Moiz 03-26-2007, 12:53 AM Hmm... each to his own I suppose. But I loved it. I suppose it would have to do with my fascination with comics et al. ;) Face of LA 04-03-2007, 07:55 AM i saw the movie 2 weeks ago! i liked it, it was all good and everythin, but what i didnt like is its not the full story! they should battle the roman army! its a big story that i expected to see! who played Spartan- a real warrior. if u played this incredible game u will know the story! however the movie was good, i'd give it 9/10 one Rage_3K_Moiz 04-03-2007, 08:21 AM What do you mean the whole story? And where do the Romans fit into the Battle of Thermopylae? This movie was not about Sparta, but about that particular incident which led the Greeks to unite against the Persian armies from Asia. Face of LA 04-03-2007, 08:38 AM ^ i know that, but the question is did this war happen before their battle with romans or after?? one Fiziks 04-03-2007, 12:16 PM 300 was amazing (saw it in theatres) and no I didn't download this movie.. don't even know why anybody would assume that.. like I said, didn't Sjbrand99 04-03-2007, 12:18 PM No one is accusing you. You sound guilty though. Fiziks 04-03-2007, 12:27 PM well unfortunately like was once said by some president.. I cannot tell a lie, which was why I was aiming at sounding guilty purposely. ;) takaboku 04-03-2007, 07:01 PM ^ i know that, but the question is did this war happen before their battle with romans or after?? one Here's your history lesson, enjoy(I did...). http://www.wsu.edu/~dee/ROME/CONQHELL.HTM Rage_3K_Moiz 04-04-2007, 04:02 AM That link gives no info about that particular part of history methinks. The Battle of Thermopylae was fought before the Rome-Sparta war. I know this because Sparta lost the latter. Face of LA 04-05-2007, 08:54 AM ^ thats what i wanted to know, i hope ur sure about it, props Here's your history lesson, enjoy(I did...). http://www.wsu.edu/~dee/ROME/CONQHELL.HTM i will give it a read still i think if they made a movie about the full story it'd have been better, still the movie kicks *** one Rage_3K_Moiz 04-05-2007, 03:37 PM still i think if they made a movie about the full story it'd have been better It would have been very long and boring then IMO. |
