BIOS Checksum error

Hi, hopefully this is the right place to post this, if not, i apologize

Have a microstar computer Model: PC MT5 typ: MED MT 165

-------------
BIOS ROM checksum error

Detecting floppy drive A media...
INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
-------------

recived this error on startup, but after a coupla minutes then a reboot it went away, i pestered parents to look into problem, but apparently not important. Now its doing it every startup, and have no clue what to do.

I tried disconnecting the A drive, and then it just gave me an "A drive is missing" error on a similar screen

googling tells me something about a battery, but i dont know where to get one or what type.

Hope someone can help

Tom

p.s. not very knowledgeable about hardware problems, so if i have missed a vital bit of info please shout, (if you can dumb it down as much as possible!!)

Tell us the brand, model, and age of your computer, and how it is configured.

Your CMOS battery may be dead. Easy to replace $3.25 at Wal-Mart.

But it could be other things.

The brand is a Microstar, model is a PC MT5, Age is 7 years old, and configured? i have windows XP if thats what you mean...?
