Hi I am wondering if you would be kind enough to generate a bios password for my Compaq Presario 2500.

The system hash is 05285.

I have treid CMOS battery removal to no avail.

I really need help with this. I cannot get past the BIOS password on this laptop, and my pw hack needs the system to boot to CD drive. I can't reset the boot order til i get past this screen. tag sc3z201

Today my omnibook XE3 suddenly decided that i need a password to get into the bios. I didn't set it, so i don't know where it came from.
When i press F12 it says the hash code is 16109

I have an Inspiron 1000 that's locked, the hash it gives me is 09419 from the BIOS, 00000 from the startup password (it had a BIOS password that I'd forgotten, and I tried to reset it by removing the battery, etc... and when I rebooted it it thinks that it has a startup password now too, but the hash for the BIOS password may very well produce a valid match.) I saw another Inspiron 1000 owner around here and I tried the password you gave him: 1114463 for the hash 00000, but I couldn't find any posts from him saying that he had any success.
Let me know if you want/need the hardware id or other numbers like that. Thank you very much.

Thank you, hpgl, for helping as many people as you have, but I got it figured out.

For anyone who cares, google "tool unlock6" and in the first result (in the binary revolution forums), look for a link to a rapidshare download. That's a tool similar to the one that he's likely using to do this. HP has had it up on their site a few times in the past, but it keeps getting taken down or moved.
It worked on my inspiron 1000- first code, first try to get into the BIOS.

It generates different codes than hpgl's, but that's the neat thing about hashes for anyone who understands the mathmatics, with such simple hashes you can have several different combinations that can lead to the same hash. Let me know if you guys have any success using it. It's an HP tool (I LOVE HP- my main machine is a zd7000, I'm just fixing the Dell for family). Despite the document saying "HP Confidential" it has been "declassified" if you will according to the register (seach for an article called hp_laptop_bios_security dated 2 July 2008 on channelregister dot uk- it won't let me post links yet). It was quite the scandal a few weeks ago... HP giving out a utility to crack its own passwords...
