Removing the keyboard on a Dell Inspiron 1300
http://support.dell.com/support/edoc....htm#wp1105383

In most cases it's a matter of searching Google for:
your model name Disassemble guide
Most of the first found pages will be trying to sell you this, but keeping searching through the lists. Eventually you will find a free guide.

Thanks for site info .. wish they offered better photo's on removing bottom plastic cover and location 24C04. I'm sure when I get bottom off I will be able to locate IC to short out BIOS Password ..

Again thanks..

I thought you were getting paid help (paid by you of course)
Anyway, that's what looked to be the case via PMs (not by me of course)
Maybe you declined

Techspot is free help only

ok sorry

Anyone who does get a PM, just remember that when this thread is rid of all paid services (I'm working hard on that , so far so good )
Then at last everyone will get free help (by the way, most free help, if not all, has already been provided in this long thread, possibly closing today)

Just read the thread in full
If it didn't help, reply for support to help (just in case)
Otherwise, you may need to look elsewhere (ie paid services at eBay etc)

Other than that, no need to post

Ready to put my head through a wall!

I have read every page in this thread and still have not found a solution for my password problem with my inspiron 700m. There was mention on one of the pages (17 I think) of 2 chips that could be shorted. No other details like location of the chips or what pins to short when you find them. I now have about 20 hours into this and I am very frustrated. Someone sent me a private message through this website pointing me to a pay service. This is supposed to be a help site and I get a response from Kimsland telling me how easy the 700m is to fix but offers no details. Someone PLEASE HELP ME! I will gladly write back to give results.

I had info here on all chips
http://www.techspot.com/vb/post574124-132.html
But it's stated to try Dell first (no reply needed on that, if you have tried)
Actually it says 7000
Anyway, check that thread too

Hey kimsland, hpgl, or anybody that can help me... I would really like for this to be resolved, but in one of my earlier posts I described about my Dell Latitude D610 having a HDD password enabled and therefore I am unable to install all of my programs including a fresh install of Win XP Home and M$ Office. Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

Kimsland

Hi Kimsland,
Followed the link and tried the password for the 700m. Didn't work. Do you have a generator? I'm at my wits end here. Thanks for your help.

Is there a sequence of keys that I have to press after the password?

Yes I posted it a few pages back, I'll edit here if I'm bothered to look
insert password; hold down Ctrl and hit Enter twice

--------------------------------------
Close up view of 24C02 chip.

Whilst holding in the ON button of the powered Laptop
AND shorting the pins at the same time
The laptop will turn on and show the Fn-X or F2 Prompt screen
You can now remove the paperclip
All done!

Still Baffled

I guess I just don't follow what you are telling me to do. On your referring post it states that the shorting method will not work on the 700m. The password that you referred to for the 7000 did not work either. I also have not seen one success story in all these posts concerning the 700m. Can anyone provide me a solution without being cryptic...believe me, I'm not just coming on here begging for a password because I'm lazy...I have done ALOT of reading about this.

PICTURE FOR EEPROM LOCATION[/QUOTE]

Your photo shows location of the BIOS Memory location. Very good.

I'm in need of the exact removal of bottom plastic to get to motherboard where that IC is... any good photo's showing how to take bottom plastic off .. Think there is some screws under keyboard .. Will play tomorrow.

Again thanks for your jpg.

gharris5, yes I started going through some of my notes and found that as well
Looks like 700m cannot be shorted (from what others have told me)

Therefore, guess what? You need to find other means to unlock your laptop
