tell me what is messages on the screen of laptop. What exact service your customer got from dell, may be they provided master password (i think they denied without money). If your customer payed money to dell, why warranty still not extended?
I know dell support sucks and in some countries they absent at all. But in your case I believe you can try to ask dell again to make clear this situation.
I may to generate master password from service tag, but I wonder why dell may be helpless in such issue. So I will wait.

I am not very Dell friendly if you know what I mean. My shop is full of Dells every day and to be frank their customer service sucks!

The message is a gray and white screen asking for a system or admin password to acess data on PC I have tried every password they gave to me in every conf possible but still no result. I am not sure what Dell told them just know what they told me and that is Dell had tham enter a couple of different codes of course they did not write them down anyway I guess either they didnt work or like I said before maybe they did and they messed it up again I do not know but it also is not my place to accuse either. So I am lost with the assumption Dell did not help and I do not know the password if I con not crack this by tomarrow I am going to have to tell my customer that I cannot repair it do to the extent of time I have put into this one PC I need to movew on so if you know how to get passed it or know someonr who does I would really appreciate it. The customer is a college student and it is registered under her father that I have verified by Dell so I know it is not stolen and I would not work on it if it was.
Thank You Kristina

By the way Dell also told me before I was going to be charge for this service that there is no master password and that they do not put any passwords in their computers. That is what is differing me from using Dell myself.

Heya hpgl, it looks like you're the guy I have to suck up to for a master pass. I can't PM yet, too new of an account, but I'm not too proud to beg in an open forum!

Latitude D600 admin password removal

Hi to everyone,
Nice to be here. I have read many of the postings on removing the admin password on Dell's in general. I work for a refurbisher and I have 23 D600's that I cannot process because there's this admin password in the BIOS. The company that owned them doesn't know the pw either.

I've tried the latitude.exe method and it does generate a password for the given service tag # but it doesn't work to clear the pw. I've tried killcmos (which has worked in the past on older pc's) but that didn't work either. Does anyone have any other ideas short of replacing the system boards?? I suppose scrapping the units is another option.

Thanks in advance,

BBB

Hello!! Need BIOS Password for Dell Latitude D630!! Help!!

Hello all!! This is my first post ever, wonder if someone can help a brutha out with a BIOS password?!? Usually I'm the family/church computer guru, but I'm stumped. Nephew asked me to see if I could boot his girlfriend's laptop (don't know where she got it from), and I get a white and grey screen. Reading this thread, I'm hopefully providing the correct information?? Here goes: Service Tag 33MGGF1, Service Code: 6749464861. Have spent almost 3 weeks, every day trying to be a hero and bombing out horribly. Thanx for reading, and any help is greatly appreciated!!

for the last 3 posts:

read through the thread and be aware that the best way is to contact the dell support first. even if others tell different, they are supportive and they will give you help. you may have to prove ownership or claime it.
other methods would be to buy a password from ebay or any site mentioned in this thread or to use the shorting method which is available for 'older' models only (e.g. d600)

use a different hdd and you will be fine. thats cheaper than waiting for or buying a password. if your bios setup is still locked go download the dst-cd and reset the service tag. this will unlock the setup as well.

I already contact dell through email, but got deniel email after a month of waiting. I know there used to be a lot of people that unlock bios password for a little fees at this site ( got my dell unlocked for $60) and I remember some people even unlock for cheaper with toshiba, hp etc... laptop. Seem like they've been chased away.

I don't mind giving a small donation for their services.

you should call their hotline. email is useless since you need to give and probably prove personal information!

use google and you will find lots of them....

personally I think you could solution for your problem already but instead you seem to rather spend time posting in forums instead. not sure what you are really looking for if you are willing to pay. to me it doesn't sound very serious but feel free to do what you want to do....

good luck anyway

TechSpot is non Profit for its support members, so instead of mindless abuse, or posting any money amounts to be paid to any member here, maybe give a Thank-you instead, or go somewhere else to pay some guy an exorbitant amount!

Hello again! I was hoping (begging?!) HPGL wouldn't mind providing assistance in creating a BIOS password? I hope I'm asking the right way, this is the first time I've ever used a forum to look for computer help. Anyway, thanx again for reading my post. I may just have to give this laptop back to my nephew (and get back to my normal life)?!

Please contact the manufacture (Dell is $39, and Hp I'm working on, I had to re-write my question to them, in a reply!)
