Ok, I know that this question has been asked in a poll but when it was asked no one had accepted the nomination from their party.

This is a tech site I know and the moderators might take this thread off because of lack of intrest or other reasons. The reason that I ask is because I was in a college level group discussion, and one member of my group said he was voting for Mccain because the U.S. is not ready for a black president. It took all of my energy not to start an argument with this kid ( I just convinced my self that he was not intelligent enought to understand any thing I had to say.). I'm no geneius, but I am smart enough to know we should never judge a person on race period, weather or not you think the country is ready for a leader of a different race.

I guess the reason I started this thread is to make sure (for my own well being) that there are people out there with real reasons why one canidate is better then the other.

Please What ever your political affiliation or belief answer this thread I like to hear what other people think of the candidates.

Personally I am going to vote for Obama, I like his energy policy, I think we should find renewable sources of energy. I dont like the Idea of off shore drilling or nuclear energy but I also know that developing these renewable energies will take time and money. I have other views but to go into all of them would make this thread alot longer then it need to be so that is the only one I'm going to post.

And some ****** will still vote for what's left of Ralph Nader
There will be a strong impact to the African-American community if Obama is elected, both good and bad.
Before you apply for your "tolerance" merit badge, be aware you are naive if you assume that reverse prejudice, hatred, and distrust isn't prevalent in the black community.
Offshore drilling is stupid for this reason; it's a lot more difficult and expensive to get oil by deep sea drilling, than it is to go out in your sandy back yard and dig a hole. So, no matter how much you find, the cost of production will always keep the price up. And Exxon-Mobile has another record year(s).

That said, vote for who you choose. This country simply can't stand another four years of a Republican Administration, period. That's why McCain was nominated in the first place, as human sacrifice. This election will boil down to the same principles all the others have, a vote for one candidate is simply a vote against the other.

IMHO, McCain's "not ready to lead" ads are the most obnoxious, and annoying I've heard in many years. The facts are ad libbed, and they are obviously pointed at the the most stupid and gullible among us. The ominous music, the woman's grating, nagging voice and then the nice folksy music. OY! Anyone in a Sociology 101 class could probably come up with better propaganda than that garbage.
I'd vote for anybody BUT McCain, on the strength of those ads alone.

I also find myself really intolerant of stupid people(everybody makes mistakes that does not make them stupid) I cant help to think that sara pallin falls into my stupid category I cant stand her. Thats resonable, I havent looked to see if either candidate has any intrest in stopping internet crimes.

Be reasonable, given the current economic situation, the war in Iraq, and the energy situation, discussing internet crime would be tantamount to political suicide. It's a serious issue certainly, but it really isn't going to gain any traction at the present. Oh, lest we forget, healthcare.

I really want to see the debate tonight, They say she is a good debator and I have seen clips but I dont see it, she asked one question and stumped the other guy. Does it make her good or lucky. Do you think Biden will win?

Well, as you pointed out earlier, she has the "hockey mom" thing going on. I guess it's hard to sass her based on the old adage, "mother knows best". I wouldn't vote for her even if she does Joe Biden, then releases a DVD. Besides, even if she were to win,Tina Fey will rip her to shreds on SNL. Now there's a VP candidate I could get behind.

Biden probably has the talent and experience to win, but only if he can avoid coming down with "hoof in mouth" disease.

I think Obama will win.... to be clear I am not a supporter. Why?The media coverage this guy gets is remarkable. There is no one asking him any serious questions. no one mentioning his connections to some very shady people. He preaches change, but is no different from the rest of washington. The main reason is he has a socialist agenda. He want Americans to be subjected to the politics and religion of washington, which is, "what is your should be mine" .
What exactly does this guy stand for? Answer: He stands for everything that I am against. Mostly he is about (as most Liberals are); Spending, Spending, Spending, and more Spending.

We've done this many times in the past. Nearly all got closed or deleted. Politics + relative anonymity on the internet are just a recipe for disaster. Then you tossed race into the argument too in your first post, not just a simple mention, but an example of racism that I suspect is rare at the college level. It may exist, but people at a college would surely not make a statement like that in a class related discussion. Perhaps that really happened, I don't want to debate that, I'm just saying you brought an awefully charged element into a topic that rarely does well on the internet, and even more rarely does it remain calm on this site.

I would go for Obama for the simlple fact that Palin is... well... ignorant in my opinion. If she was a good debater, I'd think she could at least interview well (which we all know how that ends up...)

George W. Bush has run up a 6 trillion dollar debt, through a policy of "don't tax, then spend more". Witness the bill for the war in Iraq. Does anbody think that that is still a good idea?

Even by your logic, it makes more sense to tax and spend, than to offer a tax cut and practically remove all spending limits.

Perhaps, conservatives feel that spend, spend, spend is OK, as long as the money doesn't go toward social programs, only weapons and killing. The politics of fear, fun for the feeble minded.

There are a couple of points, that I'd like to make. IMHO, being a POW does not relate directly in any way to being Commander in Chief. Actually it makes you a victim of the administration that took over the payments on the Viet Nam War from the French.

I seriously distrust anyone that shoves his thumbs in his armpits then crows, "I'm a maverick". It 's meaningless when you say it yourself. "He's a real maverick, paid for by the Republican National Commitee", somehow I don't think they're competent or plausible when making that call either. I simply am amazed and confused by those ads. All I take away is that we disagree with McCain also, so we're just humoring him.

Hey! I didn't say that I was a supporter of G.W. I have no affinity with either party, but the conservative principles make more sense to me. Handouts only leads to dependency, and laziness, as the saying goes, "Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for lifetime". What the Liberals are doing is fostering irresponsiblity, what's gonna happen when the takers out numbers the givers? How does the state generate an income when there are no tax payers, just takers.

The unfortunate thing about American Politics is this, views and opinions seem to come in prepackaged bundles. It's not possible to disagree with social entitlements, and agree with a woman's right to choose.

The truth is that whichever party runs the country for too long needs to be voted out of office. Power corrupts, and then some. Change is just a catchphrase to be sure, but change is what's needed. For better or worse, I'm fairly certain the change we'll get, isn't the "change" they're advertising.

Hindsight; Sarah Palin would have served her party's interests much more if she debated facing away from the audience. I believe she would have been better able to present the best angle of her politics. Now where's that rhinestone crown when you need it?

I know you said that you don want to argue weather the facts in my first thread a real or not. The sad thing is that they are, I Promise they are(the class was BUS 200 small business management). I know that this thread might get people up in arms defending their beliefs, but I really want to know other peoples opinions. I know that i can read a thread and not get emotionally into it, just read what is says and maybe answer if I have something to say.
It hasn't gotten out of control yet at least not that I can see.

It would be different if i started this thread so i can slam other people for what they believe and they see as fact about the candidates but thats not what I want.

Just cause I don't like it doesn't mean I'm going to kill it. If that were the case I would have killed it right away. We (mods) are pretty fair and I have never killed a thread just because I didn't agree with what was being said. That won't happen here either. But it will get shut down if there start to be personal attacks on members because of their beliefs.

Actually it doesn't make much sense to slam someone for their political views. The way I figure it, that would only make them cling to them so much more the tighter.

That said, after watching the debate and applying some good old sexist fantasies to an imaginary scenario, I wondered to myself. Suppose you were on that legendary third date with Sarah Palin. Dinner had been accomplished, and the show was glorious. You find yourself back at your place, then the magic of the third date makes its lustful presence felt. After the fires of passion have run their course, the cigarettes are lit, and you kick back for a brief pause.

Now, here's my question, are you really ready for this woman to start running her mouth? Are you a good listener? Did you bring earplugs in anticipation of this moment? Or are you actually stupid enough to think you wouldn't need them?
