PC restarts occasionally

OS: Windows XP Pro with SP2

Hardware Information
--------------------
CPU : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
Bus Type : PCI Bus
Motherboard : Intel Corporation D101GGC AAD35788-304s

: Award BIOS for Intel Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Memory : 766 MB

------------------------------------------

My PC restarts randomly, and since lately very often. I have attached a minidump file. Appreciate if anyone could help me figure out the issue and to fix it.

Could not read faulting driver name
Probably caused by : ntkrpamp.exe
It's difficult to tell. As this is a very general fault diagnosis

I would suggest to update all your Motherboard drivers, from H E R E
And possibly complete a Memtest on your Ram, info H E R E

Have you run a virus scan, spy / malware scan?
Check your Event log.
Run Chkdsk on all of your drives.

Does the reboot occur while running any specific application(s), while any external device is connected?

Disconnect devices connected to USB / Firewire, etc ports.

Check your Device Manager to see if there are any improperly installed devices.

Check under the hood. Loose boards, connections. Processor properly socketed and heatsink?

Yes; Run Memtest. Bad RAM will cause spontaneous reboot and / or BSOD.

Try to recall when the problem started. Did you install hardware or software just before?

Keep us posted.

Hi,

Thanx all for ur inputs. I ran the Memtest as advised.

On each pass, Test 5 (Block Move,64 moves) and test 8 (Module 20, random pattern), I got red error boxes. So I guess I have faulty RAM (s).

My question is, I have two 512MB RAMS. Do u think both are faulty?

Thanx

Remove one Ram card
Then run Memtest again

Then swap the Ram cards, and then test again

This will tell you which one is faulty
Or just replace both and be done with it !
