Random restarts with "event id 1003 category 102"
hello everyone,
first, i would like to thank you for sharing your knowledge about computers, as well as your patience for solving the same problem again and again...What would we do without you? To the main topic then(it's a quite old problem in fact, only some parts are unique, new thread because threads i searched were too old and you told us to open new ones, soo, sorry!) My computer restarts randomly or sometimes freezes and nothing happens. From the event viewer (yes, i did my homework!!) it seems like this: Date: 12.01.2009 Time:16:18:22 Type: Error User: N/A Computer: Alandre Source: System Error Category: (102) Event ID: 1003 Error Code: 1000000a , parameter1: 000004b0 , parameter2: 00000002, parameter3: 00000001, parameter4: 805242 The dump files are below (there are only two of them, don't worry) |

Memory Corruption.
1. Go to www.memtest.org and download their latest ISO version and burn to a CD. It is a free utility. Since your system reboots so quickly borrow a friend's PC. 2. Place CD in drive and reboot. The test will take over. 3. Let the test run for a minimum of 7 Passes (8 individual tests per Pass). This takes a long time but well worth it. Many people start it before going to bed and check it the next morning. It is completely safe. 4. If you have any errors you have corrupted memory that must be replaced. Also, with errors run the test per stick of RAM (remove one and run the test; switch) to determine how many sticks are bad. * Get back to us with the results. |

Good, glad to hear it. Memtest is a great little tool. Perhaps in the future you can learn how to replace RAM. It isn't difficult at all, you can buy it for a great price in such places as Newegg.com, and it won't cost your tech repair costs. Good luck.
