CPU heated up to 228 deg C (load)?

What the hell?

Why is my CPU temp shooting up to 228C when I OC my GPU to 547MHz / 792 MHz (VGA Mem)?? Or am I reading CPUID monitor wrong?

UPDATE

I just did a test, and found the CPU temp was only 53C Max this time...

What is going on? Is CPUID THAT unreliable?

Looks like a glitch in hwmonitor or something like that. If your cpu was 226 C, it would be completely fried, and you would have probably smelled something burning or melting. I mean, that's 2.28 times the boiling temperature of water.

Not possible... 226 C would melt the plastics on the computer, and cause a fire of the cables... Your sensor must be defective. 226C is 439F

Smoke on the Water, the Fire in the Sky,,,,,,,,,,,

The Indians used to throw blankets over computers running that hot, then remove them quickly, doing so repeatedly! This was done so that the puffs of smoke could be used as a sort of "instant messenger" service.

Mebbe so, Kemo Sabe, but that was back when they had only 6.2 GB drives, and really good blankets made out of buffalo skins... You cannot buffalo somebody now by blowing a little smoke, if you are full groan.

You've rendered me speechless, no mean feat..! I even think my signaling device has withered.

Full "groan", if that pun was intentional, that was a classic too!

Right, and we gave you free "fire water" with every purchase! Not to mention we bought Manhattan, for $28.00 worth of shiny blue RAM.

But that's sort of understandable, due to the overall price of memory in those days.

Alright, time for healing, we admit we were wrong about the Emachines AND the fire water, but it was your fault about the memory MIR.

Dear Running "Bare", Dude, watch yourself, nobody's been able to get away with that s*** since "Woodstock". Well I suppose If you must, just be careful of all the broken whiskey bottles!

It's like being poked in my mind's eye! Do we have an, "I'm going to cover my eyes now, before I go blind smiley"?

OK, here again the MacDonald's wrappers are not the fault of the palepuss. This is what you must expect when you allow them to build anywhere near one of your casinos.

Well I stumbled across this thread and must say that 228c seems a tad warm, you might be advised to have a nomex clothed fire guard present and an official cord un-plugger on hand just in case there is some even more sinister thing yet to come from that devil.
co2 is your friend and Nomex will keep you alive even when your cpu is running 228c.

Especially since the boiling point of water is 100c. The melting point of the three kinds of lead-free solder we use are 200c, 210c, and 217c. The melting point of the eutectic solder is 183ºC. The lower temperature limit for reflow is usually 200ºC and upper limit is about 235ºC.
We don't know what you mean by 228c seems a tad warm.
