Laptop running slow Possible virus - Can someone help
Over the pass couple of weeks my laptop has been running really slow as well asmy internet connection. I cannot open more than 2 tabs without receiving error message saing that my laptop is running out of virtual memory. I have followed the 8 steps. AVG detected nothing however there were 3 objects found after running maleware bytes 2 of which were in my system restore. Malewarebytes removed them but could you take a look at te ogs and advised the best way of making sure my laptop is clean and whether this is effecting the speed of my laptop?
I have a Dell Inspion MEO81 Laptop with Intel Celeron Processor 1.60GHZ.248mb RAM.34GB hard drive. Microsoft XP Home Edition version 2002 with service pack 3. I have attached the logs. Any help ill be greatly appreciated. |

Sounds like it is worn out... what is the service tag number... what you describe is over 6 years old... old enough to need new hard drive and other parts... and certainly more memory, unless it is maxed out now.

We'll run more scans, but your main issue is 248MB of RAM.
XP likes to have at least 512MB of RAM (1GB preferable) to run smoothly. So, you'll have to take care of that issue at some point. ========================================================================= Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop. **Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix. DO NOT make any other changes to your computer (like installing programs, using other cleaning tools, etc.), until it's officially declared clean!!! |

Print this post out, since you won't have an access to it, at some point.
1. Open HijackThis. 2. Close all windows, except for HijackThis. 3. Put checkmarks next to the following HijackThis entries: O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'SYSTEM') O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'Default user') O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file) 4. You should also checkmark following entries (these are unnecessary startups; no actual programs will be removed): O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Java\Java Update\jusched.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SigmatelSysTrayApp] stsystra.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSPM Startup] "c:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\isuspm.exe" -startup O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [igfxtray] C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxtray.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [igfxpers] C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxpers.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] "C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe" O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SUPERAntiSpyware] C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SUPERAntiSpyware.exe [unless you have paid version] O20 - Winlogon Notify: !SASWinLogon - C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SASWINLO.dll [unless you have paid version] 5. Click on Fix checked button. 6. Restart computer. 7. Post new HijackThis log. |
