I'm helping someone with a BSOD that only occurs at the first startup in the morning for someone: subsequent restarts don't reproduce the problem. After rebooting, windows has a message that reads the system has recovered from a serious error. The pc is a Dell gx260 optiplex running Windows XP pro. Here is the event log:

Bugcheck 9C is machine check which is caused by hardware failure (ie such as faulty ram, CPU, video card or overheat).

sorry cpc, I didn't understand..should I run a program called bugcheck? Or was that a reference to the event log? Thanks in advance for your help!

Bugcheck code is the same as stop code. When windows crashes, Microsoft writes the bugcheck code to help us to identify the error.
