Lost my DVC CD RW drive... Registry Problem. Help!
Am running Fujitzu Lifebook S7020 with TEAC DV-W28E DVD/CD RW optical drive. Drive is working OK, as I can boot from it using Fujitsu recovery disc (which gives me option of reformating my HD and rebuilding my system--not my first choice).
But in WinXP (sp2), I get this error message: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) I have uninstalled and reinstalled ad nauseum with no effect, in regular and safe mode. I have tried to do system restore to at least a dozen points, but no system restore will take (and now I seem to have lost all my system restore points). Cannot find driver on the web to try and reinstall. Any advice or recommendations? Thanx! |

Found the answer!
Thanks for your help. I had already just found the answer at: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q314060
It is apparently a not uncommon registry corruption problem. The conversation you directed me to supplied the same solution. The world is a happy place again. :-) |
