Dell dimension 3000

Hi, I buy a dell dimension 3000 in april last year cause it was not too expansive nor too cheap. But when I tried to play fable:the lost chapters on it, I was highly disapointed cause it's like playing in trashes in winter.

So I looked for pci video cards and I find the card: 256 Mb Radeon 9250 ATI
in a best-buy canada shop (cause I live in canada quebec).
So my question is: Did this video card will work on my computer and did it will work well? cause I have the intel graphics integrated and the sound card integrated.

Your help will be highly appreciated! Thanks!

Here is a guide. Follow it from step 2 onwards and you should be perfectly okay. As for the drivers installation part, be sure to get the latest Forceware drivers from here. Just click the "Primary Download Site" link and click 'Accept" in the License window that appears next. The drivers should start downloading almost immediately.

Hey guys,

Looking to upgrade my fx5200 to the x1300 card. I have a Dell B110 and I know I need to upgrade my psu to handle the x1300. My question is how can I tell what type of psu I have. Should I replace it with the ATX type or the microATX type? I can't seem to find any info in the manual or online. Any help?

Which system do you have? Most likely, if it's one of the dell's w/o pci slots(2300, 2350, 2400, 3000, etc), then it's atx.

Yes. It's a recent B110 that only has pci slots. I think you meant one of the dells w/ou pci-e slots right?

I meant "with only", but I realize that w/o usually means with out, my bad.

Judging from what the psu looks like, the unit is full size, like an atx supply.(micro atx supplies are smaller).

Does your psu look more like this?(atx)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104953
Or like this?(matx)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104016

Since it's hard to judge size from a picture, you could compare the screw mounting points to what you have.

I'm about 95% sure it's atx though.

Which PCI card to get?

I have a Celeron D 2.8 GHz, 1.25 GB of RAM, and Windows XP SP2. I am looking at 3 PCI cards to run games such as Doom 3 Halo, and Half Life 2 at 1024 by 768. Here are the 3 cards:
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 256MB DDR OverClocked

ATI Radeon X1300 256 MB DDR2

ATI Radeon X1550 256 MB DDR2

They all cost about the same.

If the X1550 has a 128 bit memory bus, then I'd say it's the best one.

Ditto wolfram. But the X1K series PCI cards are pretty expensive so make sure u have enough dough. Looking at it that way, the 6200 is the best bang for ur buck.

you can find the x1550 on newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814103031
for 89 bucks after 20 bucks of rebate, the geforce price is 92 bucks on newegg right now but i think you can find one for about 60 bucks, so its up to you, if you can spend 30 more bucks you ll get the best pci card on the planet (lol but its true).

The 6200 on Newegg is more expensive since it has a 128-bit memory bus. The 64-bit version was for $40 if I remember correctly. But yes, that X1550 is the best buy in that case.

That's the best card. 256MB of RAM, and it has a 128bit bus.

Thanis guys! I guess I'll order the X1550. BTW, do you know if my 280 watt power supply would hold my computer with the card? If not, I am thinking about getting this power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103928
