Btw, i found the processor's socket in the Asrock's is diff wif the 1 in Dell's, as well as the 1 in Gigabyte 8IG1000MK. Does it means that my current Dell's heatsink set cannot fit into the Asrock's?

I hope you understand what i mean :)

I think you may be noticing that the asrock has it's cpu socket rotated 90 degrees compared to the stock dell board. It also looks like the dell mb uses a slightly different heatsink mounting method than a standard socket 478 board. If the dell heatsink won't work, it shouldn't be a big deal, you can probably get a decent cheap heatsink and thermal paste for under $25 usd.

LOL! I didnt even know they made a decent PCI card any more. I went over to my brothers house because he was having trouble running World of Warcraft at a playable rate. I brought with me my old GeForce 4 card (AGP) to give him the boost. I open the case and stared into it for about 5 seconds before my brother asked me "whats wrong?" To my suprise he had no AGP or PCIe slot on his "my computer is better then yours, Dell".

Hello,
I have a dell dimension 2300 too.
Just to be clear does this have a pci express slot or just pci slot.
The only GeForce 6200 pci cards on ebay are pci express.
Will they work on the dimension 2300.

Thanks,
Nick

Hello Nick and Welcome to Techspot! :)

From what I saw HERE, I'm afraid you only have PCI slots. So you'll need a 6200 PCI unfortunately (if you can find it).

Those PCI-E cards will not work on your system, and unfortunately, there isn't an "adapter" to make PCI-E cards work on a PCI system.

I'm sorry :(

PCI only, no pci-express. Pci 6200's do exist though(I have one), I have recently edited my first post in this thread with links to the two pci 6200's I know of.

Wow. Best buy must be crazy. $156.99 for a 256MB 6200.... When you can find a 6600GT for under $100 these days.

And the $40 Geforce 6200 128MB version should perform as good as the 256MB version...

Can't get the 6200 anywhere.
Would the Radeon 9250 be the next best.
There's plenty on ebay and seem to be pci not pci-express although not sure, some are red, grey and green.
Do you know which one is pci and not pci-express.

Thanks,
Nick

What country are you in? I'll guess you're in the uk, if so, here are two that are available there.

23 FPS is low. Anything below 30 FPS is bad.

If you want to play COD2, with a 9250, be prepared to lower the resolution to 640X480, with everything set to "low", because COD2 is a VERY, very demanding game :(

Would the 256mb GF 6200 be much better?
Have 512mb ram and 2.3 Ghz P4.

A 6200 is much better than a 9250. If you can, get the 128MB version, as it's much less expensive, and performs almost as good as the 256MB version.

Still :( a 6200 is a low end card :( But should be able to play COD2 better than a 9250.

I give up on my 2300 & found this board at a local store for $400TT = $66US. I still don't know if the cpu is good though. Look at the symptoms here http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_other&message.id=286724 the CPU is not the problem right!!!
It got the Asrock I/O shield to fit the ports if the case ports are different.
I already noticed the mouse & KB ports are vertical unlike the original 2300 MOBO.
BTW, can I use the same heatsink from the dell dimension 2300 & screw down a fan on it?
Using a Codegen ATX 350W PSU.
