If you only have PCI slots, what kind of games do you expect to play anyways.. I mean what motherboard (besides one with dead onboard video) has only PCI slots... That is more than 500Mhz, and anything less, I wouldnt even play Half-Life on... Well, I would but thats beside the point...

Now, I guess for $50 you might find a fx5200 or fx5500, look for one with 128bit memory interface. The cards box should indicate the recommended power supply, usually 250w or 300w in this card class, but I think most of these would run on a basic(single hard drive, single optical, lower end processor) system with only a 200w power supply.
Is there a significant increase in performance over the integrated intel video card I have now that would make buying and installing one of these worth it?

Actually many, many current sytems still have no agp or pci-e slot. The newest dells on their low end have only pci slots and you can get them with relatively fast processors(for example, a b110 dell with a pentium 4 2.8ghz isn't too slow, a lot faster than 500mhz).

A fx5500 will be faster, and will give you the added side benefit of freed up system memory(since integrated "shares" between 32 and 128mb of system memory for graphics textures). I don't know how much faster a fx5500 will be, since I don't have one, but my pci 6200 was several times faster than my integrated intel graphics. Don't expect miracles though.

Right that's what I meant by one with some crappy onboard video... But I don't buy Dell or any of that, just custom built systems, so I will only have what I want ayways...

FX5500 Dimension B110 512Ram P4 2.6

I got my NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 256MB, But no signal to the monitor. I set the primary Graphic in the Bios as AUTO and Still the problem.

Is this graphic card to much for the Dimension B110?

Regards!

Hi all.

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 as well, & i have been searching for some new motherboards with AGP slot. Here's some motherboards that i able to find in my place:

Asus P4V8X-MX:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131573

MSI PM8M-V:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130519

Biostar P4M80-M4:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138262

ASRock P4I65G:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157090

Which 1 is the most suitable for my sistem? Their prices are not much diff.

Thanks a lot!

Of the four boards you list, I'd say go for the Asrock p4i65g
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813157090

I like that it has an intel chipset, which I like better than the via and sis chipsets available. It also has generally good ratings, 83% voted 5/5 eggs.

I personally used this board.
Gigabyte 8IG1000MK
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128222
I like it, and would recommend it, but not sure if it's worth the money over the asrock, although it does have 4 dimm slots instead of 2.

Btw, i found the processor's socket in the Asrock's is diff wif the 1 in Dell's, as well as the 1 in Gigabyte 8IG1000MK. Does it means that my current Dell's heatsink set cannot fit into the Asrock's?

I hope you understand what i mean

I think you may be noticing that the asrock has it's cpu socket rotated 90 degrees compared to the stock dell board. It also looks like the dell mb uses a slightly different heatsink mounting method than a standard socket 478 board. If the dell heatsink won't work, it shouldn't be a big deal, you can probably get a decent cheap heatsink and thermal paste for under $25 usd.

LOL! I didnt even know they made a decent PCI card any more. I went over to my brothers house because he was having trouble running World of Warcraft at a playable rate. I brought with me my old GeForce 4 card (AGP) to give him the boost. I open the case and stared into it for about 5 seconds before my brother asked me "whats wrong?" To my suprise he had no AGP or PCIe slot on his "my computer is better then yours, Dell".

Hello,
I have a dell dimension 2300 too.
Just to be clear does this have a pci express slot or just pci slot.
The only GeForce 6200 pci cards on ebay are pci express.
Will they work on the dimension 2300.

Thanks,
Nick

Hello Nick and Welcome to Techspot!

From what I saw HERE, I'm afraid you only have PCI slots. So you'll need a 6200 PCI unfortunately (if you can find it).

Those PCI-E cards will not work on your system, and unfortunately, there isn't an "adapter" to make PCI-E cards work on a PCI system.

I'm sorry

PCI only, no pci-express. Pci 6200's do exist though(I have one), I have recently edited my first post in this thread with links to the two pci 6200's I know of.

Wow. Best buy must be crazy. $156.99 for a 256MB 6200.... When you can find a 6600GT for under $100 these days.

And the $40 Geforce 6200 128MB version should perform as good as the 256MB version...

Thanks for the help really appreciate it.
Can't get the 6200 anywhere.
Would the Radeon 9250 be the next best.
There's plenty on ebay and seem to be pci not pci-express although not sure, some are red, grey and green.
Do you know which one is pci and not pci-express.

Thanks,
Nick

What country are you in? I'll guess you're in the uk, if so, here are two that are available there.
