That looks like my one and I got a camera, when I get my PNY 6200 card back. I will post to show you is there maybe a way to use a fan on the gpu heat sink ?

A friend of my son has a Dell which had both onboard graphics and an unoccupied PCI-express slot. I guess they used the same motherboard across a range of models, so the entry level just used onboard, and further up the range you got a graphics card. I also think there are other types of device that can plug in to a PCI-E slot, for example disk controllers or IDE expansion headers. As mopar man so eloquently put it, you are just going to have to take a peek .

Do anyone think, the 8500 GT PCI card will get notice in the United States and someone will start to put the card out in the market for us to buy?

The 2400 HD PRO PCI card is wonderful, but i am very curious to buy the 8500 GT for this computer. I couldn't make it out to maryland, so i didn't have a chance to see can i get it, maybe next time tho.

I don't know if its the 64bit bus or the card, but i have notice with 2 kinda old games ( one 2001 and the other one 2002 ) they run really slow, terrible.

Does the 64bit inferface have the abilty to view long distance, what i mean is, say i am turn around in a FPS shooter, no enemies, just a wall in front of me, im getting like 50/74 fps, but once i turn around and view everything in front of me and i proceed to go towards it , or move forward, the game crawls and the fps drops to 10-15.

Anyone understand what i am saying?
And btw, those games had no problem playing with my fx5500. Its only 2 of them thus far, and 4 other racing games which i own, i can't play at all anymore with this card. No biggie, because i own over 450 pc games, so those games i will play when i buy my second computer.

The FX5500 PCI has a 128-Bit Bus Width while the HD 2400 PRO has a 64-Bit Bus Width [Which you already know]. This is what's limiting your game play.

Therefore the X1550 PRO PCI is in favor.

The diamond X15500 Pro PCI is hard to find in stores, but if i come across it, i will be sure to check it out and test it out. Infact, i guess the only 2 cards which i can buy and test out if i come across it, is the X1550 or the 8500GT.

Btw, that issue only seems to happen with certain games, not all.

Peace

But hold up, despite the 128bit bus, wouldn't i be downgrading if i go from the 2400 hd pro to the diamond x1550? Is the 1550 faster and more powerful or something?

yet another pci cooler

I spotted this one, could work very well with PCI cards where you have some headroom above each card (i.e perpendicular to the motherboard)

http://www.jetart.com/style/content/...11641&id=47816

With the 8500GT PCI it should be possible to position this in the slot beneath the card with one fan blowing up onto the heatsink and one blowing across the vanes

Why do people need a pci cooler anyway?

My 2400 HD Pro never really goes up to 50c, right now its at 39c , when playing games for about an 1 or 2 hours, the card goes up to 43c 49c. Thats pretty good. Also room temp are always important, if its cool in your home, well your computer tower + plus card will be cool.

I also reposition my video card in my first PCI Slot. So i think by changing it and not happening anything else in there, my GPU always stay cool.

Using Fraps got 20 to 40 fps. for Quake 4.

How do you add a picture to the message here, instead of attaching a picture.

OK well I upgraded to the latest nVidia driver, then tried a bit more OC on the 8500GT and pushed the GPU clock up to 690. 3dMar03 ran OK, few artefacts during the ragtroll but otherwise OK, here is the result

Universal fits any slot

For instance. 2 cuts in pci slot connector means universal.

You might want to look at pci latency , as some cards grab more cycles. Google the PCI latency tool,

The sound card issue is fix. I just install the drivers, nothing else. Seems like if i install all of the extra crap, it slows down my computer.

But anyways, it looks like i will have to get rid of my 2400 HD PRO. Its either too weak or too powerful for my computer. I can't even play some of my older games anymore, they wont load, or they are too slow. Too slow? The game is lagging at the highest settings with older 2000 and 2002 and 2001 games.

I never had this problem using my FX5500, they ran perfect. I notice when the bandwidth of a video card is too high , i get poor fps in older games. I was thinking it was the 64bit inferface, but its not. I am going to buy the X1550 or Diamond 9250 or 8500GT PCI version, if i can find it and see how it works.

But this is really starting to tick me. I want all of my games too work. The 2400 can run some of the newer games, but my CPU is only a PIII/600. The best GPU i have that never had any major problems was the 5500. Only problem with that card, its not really that powerful with some of the newer games, but i can play all of my games just fine.

So look the bottom line is like this, i am just going back to use my 5500 and be on the hunt for the Diamond x1550 or the 8500 or even the 5600 PCI version card. If i am not able to find any of them, i will just keep my 5500 for my games which i can play with ease and those which i cant play, i will look forward to playing on my secondary computer. The 2400 HD pro is either too weak or too powerful and as a result runs old games at crap speeds.

Peace
