yes but its still clocked at 800, which means its probabely just DDR2 but with a new label, (there i very little difference between 2 and 3, 3 just clocks higher better) Albtron uses bad GPU's and RAM, i have heard nothing but bad reviews about then and there products, i think there like the Jaton of The UK.

Visiontek/Powercolor/HIS sent me this email about radeon cards for the PCI

" So far there isn’t any news around the corner of new PCI cards being released. PCI cards tend to have a much longer technological life span due to their simplicity. You can’t really do much to a PCI video card because they’re in such low demand. So unfortunately, we don’t have anything coming around the corner, but I do think there will always be something made available in PCI. There’s usually a new PCI card released for every 2 PCI-E series that are released. Thank you

I am focusing my attention on PCIe cards for my new rig i got. But i am buying secondary computer , maybe a P4 or something for the older games that does not work on Vista32bit. So i will continue to use PCI for that rig, but for this new rig, my attention is on pcie cards.
Anyways, pci cards tend to pop up out of nowhere. They might keep making geforce ones, but radeon , who knows.

Surprised more people aren't talking about the new Jaton 9500GT PCI. Jaton has been making video cards a while, so there shouldn't be problems with this working correctly and tech support should be passable if nothing else. I'd love to stick one in my machine right now.

Here is a few benchmarks, some resize to 1024x768 from 1280x960 or 1280x1024. I only game at 1280x1024, and record at 1024x764 or 1280x1024.

System Specs present, using my Visiontek 2400HD PCI with 9.4 drivers

Jericho 1280x1024 High Settings / 17-29fps

Left 4 dead 1280x960 very high shader settings, high texture settings, NO AA(around 19-29fps)

Outrun 1280x1024 AAX2

Outrun 1280x1024 NO AA

Note: It runs better without AA, i get between 20-40fps.

Seems like EVGA is about to release a 9400GT 512MB PCI . It could be a error, because it also says SLI

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/s...tml?EVG-94GT5P

In the UK it seems. I will keep an eye out for EVGA us site too.

I ordered a 8500GT PCI from the UK to the USA last year, so you should be able to order the 9500GT from the USA to the UK as well.

Good eye General, that is the best base price + shipping that I have seen yet on this card, I love Newegg. Only gripe I have with this card is that I don't see a VGA port on it, so you will need an adapter to use it on your monitor, at least I will. Poor planning on Jaton's part there but great card otherwise, like the single PCI slot form factor.

BTW, don't listen to people that say PCI cards are completely useless as that simply not true. I don't argue that they are overpriced and not as powerful as cards on the other bus types, but obviously some people only have PCI and this is much cheaper than building a new a PC. All the builds people demonstrate that you can make with the same money you spend on the PCI card aren't really builds at all because you have to spend at least $500 dollars to build a PC from scratch with all the necessary components. A PCI card is much cheaper than that and is the perfect stopgap solution IMO.

The price is terrible tho, should of been 60 or 70 for it. As for the vga port, well i have like 2 adapters. I make sure to always keep them around. You can find them in stores for cheap tho.

Btw, i never listen to people lol. But seriously. For the new rig i got now, i plan to move on to PCIE next month sometime, but i am buying a secondary rig just for PCI , maybe a p4 or a celeron d. Only because well vista is nice, but i notice some games don't work on it, so its wise to keep 2 rigs.

But pCI cards get the job done depending on how your set up is, 20-30 or more at max or near max settings at 1280x1024 and its cool.

Here ya go:
http://direwolf007.blogspot.com/2008...ing-redux.html

Don't try to play relatively new games with it. It won't do it, no matter how much CPU power you team it up with (A 3.9Ghz E5200 would be deemed sufficient just for about anything, aside perhaps of the horrible port that GTA IV is).

Stuff from the Doom 3 era should run decent as well as older things, but you can forget about CoD4, Crysis, Fallout 3 or anything else modern and graphics-heavy, and don't be mislead by anyone telling you otherwise.

That bench is the naked truth.

I kinda wanted a benchmark for older games anyway thanks

I see but then what is general's real computer specs if hes getting those benchmarks? so how is left4dead running for general? with the settings he is using and a newer computer that is dual core cant even get what general is getting?

anyway I kinda already sucked it up that I will NEVER play newer games on this computer with PCI

so time to start saving money over the summer for a decent computer

No, you will never play newer games with PCI but CoD4 might be half OK since it is DirectX 9. My ambition is to stick a 9500GT in this rig and play up to and including Oblivion and that is the realistic cutoff of performance that I hope for.

This is my computer:

http://www.emachines.com/products/pr...prod=ET1161-05

I did those benchmarks using my 2400HD. And those are at 1280x960 or 1280x1024 some with aa and some not at high to very high settings and all of those run smooth. If you set your resolution to 1024x768 i get even more.

Speaking of COD4 using my 8400gs at 1024x768 i get up to 50-60 frames. at medium to high settings. But i play at 1280x1024 with AAX2 , high to extras settings and i get between 16-30

L4D is not a demanding game.

Just about all games work on vista. In fact I dont think of any game that wont run on vista. its not vista that's the problem(per say) Its trying to run games that need dx9 ready cards, and not pci versions...in most cases other than the most recent versions of pci cards. These people that create these "low end" pci cards expect they will be sold to less than 1% of the vga market.

I am keeping a list of games that does not work in vista and so far:

Blood 2 - Need older OS
Secrert service breanch - works better in XP/W2K, major tearing in Vista
Ford Racing 2 - Crashes, need xp or w2k, you really do need xp or w2k to play this game. Vista is not supported.
Knight Rider - Slow as hell, works better in xp or w2k
Far cry - ?
Heretic II - Wont even install, need Xp or w2k
Sin - Same as above.

Trust me you need a secondary rig, and thats what i plan to do. Buying a gateway Quad Core as my secondary rig and i plan to install windows 2000 on it , and use PCI cards on it.
Plan on buying a albatron 8600gt. I want that model, its rare and the design is interesting
