In that case, why did you even bother to post a HJT log?

I can tell you for certain you have at least one nasty entry in your log.

I strongly advise you to install the firewall and antivirus programmes I linked you to.

In the mean time, do the following.

Download the Pocket killbox programme from HERE.

Extract the programme, but do not run it yet.

Boot into safe mode. See how HERE. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial61.html

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial56.html

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial62.html

Run HJT with no other programmes open. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O20 - Winlogon Notify: msldr32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msldr32.dll

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Run the killbox.exe file. When it loads type the full path to the file you would like to delete in the field. Check the delete file on reboot and press the Delete File button (looks like a red circle with a white X). It will prompt you to reboot, allow it to do so, and hopefully your file will now be deleted.

This is the file you need to delete.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msldr32.dll

Once your system has rebooted, turn system restore back on.

Post a fresh HJT log.

thanks, turns out i DID have a bit of a spyware problem although im not sure if it was that file that i removed that fisxed the problem, il chekc up and reply. thanks howard, my apologies

Just a question, what were the file and registry deletes fixing?

The nasty entry that needed fixing was C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msldr32.dll

The msldr32.dll is somekind of trojan/virus etc. Unfortunately I can find very little specific info as to what this file actually is.

The fact that I couldn`t find any info, is what alerted me to the fact it was probably nasty. I have since been proved right in my assumption.

020 winlogon entries in HJT are often, but not exclusively a sign of infections.

The trick is to know which are safe and which are not lol.
