Running Vista on Laptop - What's the Best Security if not Mcaffee

Computer Specs:
Vista Home Premium
Dell Inspirion L1420
Processor: Intel Duo Core T5250 @ 1.50 GHz
Memory: 2038 MB
32-Bit Operating System
Video Card: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

Not sure if you need anything else, but I rec'd the 30-day McAffee demo with the system and it's going to run out soon. So I'm wondering what Security (preferably free) would be best.

Thanks in advance, Chris

System specs
The PC tools firewall is compatible with vista. I had put it on my sisters dell for her and was working good. But then she couldn't seem to get on the internet but I think the firewall was just blocking it, and she is kinda computer illiterate so she didn't know for sure what to do. But I would give that a go and see if you like it.

erm, vista compatible swcurity software............
try
AV: Avast Home Edition (or Pro if you want to pay)
FW: Comodo Firewall Beta (it works, just a few bugs, not many though)
Spyware/Malware: Either Spybot: S&D or Windows Defender

As long as you have some kind of protection, any kind is better than none.
