Battery Life

The Motorola Moto G4 Play includes a 2,800 mAh (10.64 Wh) removable lithium-ion polymer battery, which is a decent upgrade on the 2015 Moto G's 2,470 mAh non-removable cell. The switch to a removable battery will please those who like to pack a spare battery, although most consumers will simply be happy that the Moto G4 Play lasts longer than its predecessor.

The Moto G4 Play boasted 23 percent longer battery life in our Wi-Fi browsing test, which is better than the mere 13 percent increase in battery capacity. This is likely due to improvements in display efficiency and tweaks to software, because the SoC in both phones (the Snapdragon 410) is otherwise identical.
