8 steps to infection removal?

Can someone please direct me to the 8 steps of infection removal? My browser has been hijacked. My internet searches are being directed to other 3rd party sites. I am trying to fix the problem but not having any success yet.

Dr. Vader - As you can tell I am new to the techspot and had question. I completed all 8 steps. Should I have posted my results in this thread or a new one like I did?
