A weird blue screen

I have a friend whos laptop seems to boot up, but right before it shows the login it goes a light blue, then the mouse pointer shows up and seems to function, but doesnt do anything other than that. safe mode does the same.

She said the only thing she did different was install norton antivirus for some other spyware problems, my guess was it was still installing and needed to stay left on a while. but I figured I better ask incase anyones heard of this before. thanks

Did she uninstall her former security solutions before installing Norton? If not you will have conflicts between the old and new. I would suggest uninstalling Norton to see if it brings back stability. The thing is Norton is notorious for leaving remanants behind so go to their website and use their removal tool.
