Audio problem

When I double click my music files I encounter a dialog box….this is the second time that it has occurred and I don’t want the headache of installing sound driver everytime this crops up……. It’s the same with video files, watch picture without sound. the dialog box says like this:-

bad directsound driver. please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration.
Error Code:88780078

I somewhat understand that there’s some defect with the sound driver, but what does that error code:88780078 mean?
And I also hear frequent beep sound from CPU casing after every other dialog box.

I know the problem will be gone with another fresh installation but I want lasting fix….

TECH SPOT please help……..

Thank You

Check this:
Go to the Control Panel
Click on Sounds & Audio Devices icon (or MultiMedia Icon)
Click the Audio tab
In 'Sound playback' make sure the 'Default device:' drop-down box
correctly shows your soundcard.

thanks

Sounds like you have a driver conflict... Is your system free of viruses and spyware? What do you use to protect your machine?
