Hi. I got a virus on my HP Pavillion 563w and nothing is working. I've backed up my files and am ready to reformat. The problem is...I start my PC and cant get into BIOS. I've tried F1,F2,F3,F4,F5,F6,F7,F8,F9,F10,delete and escape. Nothing works. I get the screen that says "Windows had an error and cannot start correctly" and it asks you how you want to start...safe mode...normal...last known good configuration etc. And what I'm trying to do is make my boot order boot the CD first to reformat my drive. I have the diagnosis disks, but do not want to use them because my XP disc comes with SP2 already. Any help?

According to HP website it's the F1 key.

Here's a quote from the website.

"You may have difficulty accessing the BIOS Setup utility screen, because you must press a specific key (usually F1) very quickly before the Windows screen appears. If you do not enter the BIOS Setup screen on your first try, repeat the following steps until you are successful.

To open the BIOS Setup screen:

1. Turn off the PC and wait about 5 seconds.
2. Turn on the PC.
3. When the first screen appears, press the F1 key on the keyboard. (You can press the key more than once.) The BIOS Setup Utility Main menu appears.
NOTE: On certain Compaq Presario PCs (prior to 2002) press the F10 key at the logo screen to enter setup.
4. Use the keyboard to navigate through the menus."

If it just won't work the only other suggestion I would make would be to remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes and try again. This should reset the BIOS to the default values.
