Product leaks originate from a variety of sources but perhaps the most frustrating of all is when it’s your own fault. That’s exactly what happened last week when BlackBerry for a brief time accidentally published details regarding its as-yet-announced DTEK60 smartphone.
The handset has made yet another appearance, this time in the form of a filing with the Federal Communications Commission. The filing depicts a device measuring 75mm wide and x 153mm tall with a diagonal measurement of 162mm.
The BlackBerry DTEK60, the successor to the DTEK50 (a rebranded Alcatel Idol 4), will be the Canadian handset maker’s third Android smartphone following the BlackBerry Priv and the aforementioned DTEK50.
BlackBerry’s blunder last week revealed that the DTEK60 will feature a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB or RAM and Adreno 530 graphics. The phone will also pack in 32GB of local storage, a 21-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel selfie cam, a fingerprint reader, USB Type-C connectivity and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery.
While impressive, CrackBerry notes that the DTEK60 will likely be another rebranded device – perhaps the Alcatel Idol 4 Pro or the TCL 950.
No word yet on when BlackBerry plans to officially announce and subsequently launch the DTEK60 although the FCC filing suggests it’ll arrive sooner rather than later.
