Bsod 0x0000008e

Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion dv9074cl laptop with a Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2. Whenever I try to volume up/down or mute by touch HP Quick Launch Buttons or try to use VOIP softwares I get a BSOD. The BSOD only gives me this kind of error:
0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0X00200020, 0Xrandom, 0X00000000)

I have a PCTools Internet Security on my laptop. It sometime shows me Backdoor.IRCBot.BMD or Trojan.ProAgent.

Hope so you understand my problem.

Thanks,

Hi thekhan,

If you definitely think that you're infected then you should follow all the steps HERE.

Remember to follow all the steps exactly and post the three requested logs as attachments. (see how here)

Try this first and see if it works.

Go to start -> control panel -> display -> open it and change the Hardware Acceleration setting from Full to None

Also go to www.update.microsoft.com and check for updates that you may have missed.

You should still follow the preliminary removal instructions above since you are having issues with malware
