Can I connect two large monitors to Radeon HD 6800?

I have an AMD Radeon HD 6800 card. I would like to connect at least two monitors to it. How large can the monitors be? For example could I connect two 28"? Must they use different connections?

Physical size won't matter. If it something like a Radeon HD 6870, then it might have something like 2 DVI, 1 HDMI, and 2 DiplayPort (mini). So you could easily connect two monitors, either to the DVI or the DisplayPort sockets; they don't have to be on the same socket (so you could have 1 DVI and 1 DP).

However, you are limited to what resolution can be run on the ports:

This suggests that going with two modern, high resolution large monitors on DVI isn't worth it, and that you'll need to use the DP sockets.

Edit:
Here's a bit more on connecting monitors:

What upgrade would you recommend for a card that can display two monitors in high resolution?

Depends on what you use the PC system for, upgrade budget, and current power supply - a Radeon HD 6870 is 150W-ish graphics card, so if you wanted to stay in the same ballpark figure, regarding power, then something like a Radeon RX480 would fit the bill. It has up to 3 DisplayPort sockets so it could easily run 2 big, high resolution monitors. It was released 3 years ago, though, so isn't the most up-to-date model; so if your system could cope with an additional power requirement of 30-50W, then the latest Radeon RX 5700 would do just as well.

Hello neeyik,
I could use your assistance:
I also have an AMD Radeon HD 6800 card. Downstream it seems to be a 6739.
It has two DVI interfaces as well as 1 HDMI and 1 Display Port interfaces.
I am attempting to connect two Samsung 28 L U28E590D UHD LED HDMI monitors.
I have updated the software as well.
For some reason, I cannot get the two monitors to function simultaneously. If I change from one to the other all is well.
Might you have a tip for me?
Much appreciated!

Looking at the monitor specifications, I'm guessing that you're using the HDMI and DP sockets for the two monitors. So it works okay if you plug one monitor into either of those sockets? The problem only occurs when both sockets are filled? Apologies for the questions - just trying to best understand the situation.
