Call canon technical support before you junk it talk to a tier 2 technician.
Do everything she or he says, when they find out the printer is a dud and it is.
If you can find your receipt (paper or digital copy) and if it still has a valid warrenty.
Let them replace it for you, they will mail you a box with shipping label they will pay for.
Mail your old one back and they will exchange it for you.
I had the same printer last year, Worked for a month and barely used it.
Now the stupid thing refuses to catch paper because of a programming error ?
They sent me an updated model of it within one week.
Haven't had much of a problem, keep those printers dust free.
Store it away when you don't need it and keep the lids closed properly.
