CoD 2/BF 2 can't see menu

I been playing BF 2 and CoD 2 almost since the day they came out with no problems. When Quake 4 came out I started playing it, with no problems. Now after two or three weeks of Quake 4, I try to play CoD 2 and I can see the cinematics just fine and then a black screen, same but a white screen with BF 2. I can tell the menu is loaded in CoD 2 because I can move the mouse pointer around and here the clicks and hear the music, just can't see what to click on. Quake 4 still has no problems.

Things I have tried. I set the desktop back to 800x600, refresh rate at 60. Installed several older drivers, (had the latest intalled), uninstalled both games and reinstalled with all the latest patches, added to the target line on the desktop icon to set the in game res. and refresh to 800/600 and 60, as was suggested in a Google search. I have the latest chipset drivers and bios. The one thing I have added during this time is a new X-Fi Music sound card, changed from and Audigy 1. So, I changed back to the onboard sound, still didn't do any good. No new software added that I can think of.

I'm at my wits end, anybody got any ideas. Specs in my profile, but the short version of it is,

AMD 64 3500+
Avit AV8 Mobo
2x1 gig Geil Ram
BFG 6800GT OC
200 Gig Maxtor, 75% free space
Soundblaster X-Fi Music
Enermax 535 watt PSU
Three cooling fans, nothing running hot

Thanks for the bump. But since nobody had any ideas, I did a repair install of XP, which fixed the game issue, (evidently had some corruption), but the computer was a lot slower and some programs had issues as well. To make a long story short, I did a complete reformat, now all is well.
