complicated irq problem - need help

ok this would usually be an easy fix for me, however it is different to many irq problems in one way - i have a conflicting IRQ but it is not being used by any PCI devices!

my IRQ 22 is being conflicted by my onboard sound controller and a USB controller:

winmsd reports in conflicts as:

IRQ22 Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
IRQ22 NVIDIA(R)nForce(TM) Audio Codec Interface

i just started getting bluescreen of death, with the message of a conflicing IRQ, and that i should reinstall the hardware. This just started happening out of nowhere, i didnt install anything!

If i disable the USB one, i loose my internet. If i disable the NVidia one, i loose sound. If i leave both of them under IRQ22 i get BSOD, i get mashed up sound and my internet keeps disconnecting from my USB modem.

if i go into BIOS to manually assign IRQ numbers to devices, it only goes up to 15.

can anyone tell me a simple routine to change one of these IRQ numbers??

yeah cheers captain obvious, please read the post above.

if you can give me one of those links regarding this issue please do. all the links through google involve removing the offending hardware. i cant. they also involve removing some factors of windows. i wont do this.

Judging by the unexpurgated post, which I received by email, I infer that you are displeased with my response. Shame.

Before posting again, I recommend that you ask for a full refund from whichever charm school you attended, then read Dale Carnegie's book "How to win friends and influence people". Somewhat dated, but still worth reading. It would be an excellent investment.

As for my age, you would need to multiply the mid teen age by five to get close. Should that be difficult, just multiply by ten and divide the result by two.

Be happy.

Ok guys, you`ve both had your say. If you can leave it at that, that`d be great. If not, I suggest you continue your disagreement via pm`s and not on the forums.

I don`t particularly want to start closing threads or deleting posts, if I can avoid it. ;)

Regards Howard :)
