Computer not turning on

hi, my computer is not turning on anymore
i woke up today to use it, but it didnt turn on anymore, but it worked yesterday
previously, sometimes my computer didnt turn on, so i turn the power supply off then turn it on again, and then the computer works

now, the computer doesnt turn at alll, except for making one beep noise and then shuts off. The motherboard is a A7N8X-E model.
could it be the PSU? or has my mobo fried up...?

I'm not sure whats going on, but give me your system specs and I will help u.

Also, do you smell anything weird in your mobo? like frying metal or plastic?

Not sure, but it could be the memory.
U can try cut the power off(just take it off from the power socket) and wait for a couple of minutes.
Another thing, if u have more that just one memory modules (I hope this is the english word for what I am trying to say) see if it starts with just one (u will have to put each and every one, one at a time).

The memory could have been electrocuted when he switched off his powersupply...

Like a voltage shock? I mean, the power rosed up and the memory got fried?
I thought there was some safety nets or something like protection against such things. I don't really know.

and thats about all i can give, cause...my dad threw away the boxes/manuals
btw, it was custom built by my cousin
no, nothing smells fried up and i tried cutting the power off
havent tried removing one memory module yet.

Do you have a 20 + 4 pin psu?

i think its a 20 pin psu, cause theres no 4 pin thing

there is a separate 4 pin connector usually, but unplug ur psu from the mobo and count to see if there are 20 or 24 pins alltogether. if it only comes to 20, then i would get a new mobo.

no it cannot support more than 20, there are only 20 pins for it. =/

I had a similar problem with my bros old comp, when i replaced the motherboard and psu this problem went away. just incase, run memtest+86 and check all your other components

let me give the story again.
i have been using my computer for 3 years, and up to a week ago it was fine
the mother board is an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe. it has Voice messages
since last week, when i press the power button the only thing i hear is a beep and then the computer doesnt boot up at all...
BUt, what weird is that sometimes the computer DOES boot up, and when it does, the voice says" CPU FAN failed"
but when i check my cpu fan, it's working.

anybody know what a Beep means?!

maybe it says that about the cpu fan because maybe it's not plugged into the "cpu fan" connector.... as for it turning off and staying off... i think you should change your power supply...

Well, it seems that there is some kind of problem with the mobo, not detecting the CPU fan is working. Does it boot up normally after the voice message. Also, try repeatedly powering it on and off, count how many times it does make the voice in 20 tries.
