Deleting Google Chrome history (new tab)

When I click the + sign to open a new tab, I see website icons of where I've been. Deleting browser history don't remove them so how do I remove them? TIA

Thanks for the 115 views. Due to the dark theme on my new tab, I was unable to see the "EDIT" dots, I guess they are..

Ctrl+H and clear browser history.
