Dvd burner

how do i burn dvd's. does my computer need a dvd burner drive or just software because i have roxio 9 but it says imcompatible medium installed-unit not ready. please help

you need a DVD burner. A DVD ROM only READs DVDs. You need one that can do + or - R or more.
