Happy new year to all!
Here is my problem.
computer spec:
mobo: Asus P5LD2
RAM: 3 slots ddr2 Kingston total 3gb
CPU: 3.0 HT slot 775
1 hdd SATA 35GB western digital and 1hdd SATA 200GB maxtor
3 secondary fan
dvd player and dvd burner both LG
my computer was just formated.I have tested my ram with memtest86 for more than 12 hours and no errors found.
Windows XP pro sp2 with all MS update.I am using AVG free.Firefox for my browser. My problem is that my cpu seems to always be running at 50%.If i listen to music with Windows media player 11, Itune or Winamp, it keeps playing in slow motion and sound is shoppy. Also when i only surf the web,my curser keeps lagging. My mouse and keyboard is Microsoft wireless laser 6000.new batery.I had a power supply 400W before.(cheap)I had a 230W better quality that i have just install and it is just has bad.I tried installing a pci soundcard since mine is onboard.I returned it since my computer would not detected it at all.(keep in mind that i had purchased a no name brand for 20$ can)Also my cpu temperature seems fine.(below 50 degrees.
Any ideas on my problem?
I think it could be the cpu, but could it be that my power supply is not strong enough? If not with all the device installed on my computer, how strong should it be?Any model you recommend?
Thanks in advanced!

i know almost exactly how is your problem as im havin exact trouble in the past but even worse, at 100% all the time. But i could easily remove it by installing windows xp sp2. listening to you which has just formatted the HD, i knew this isn't the solution. btw have you google for it? I've seen many cases like this.
One of the root was from the apps from your computer.

Thanks for your reply. Yes i have google to see if they were similar issue. But most of them speak about software issue.virus or spywares.but this is happening on a brand new installation of Windows XP pro with SP2.The only software installed are basic ones.
firefox, avg free, gmail notifier, Office 2003, msn messenger(latest version and i have yest to use it on this machine. All themicrosoft updates have been done.adobe reader 8, tugzip, pdf creator. All the drivers for my devices.I have scan my computer for virus with AVG free and i also went on the symantec website for an online scan where nothing was found. Adaware found nothing either.
Please help????

What program is using the CPU? Check in device manager.

Update your motherboard chipset drivers, this will cover onboard sound, onboard lan, and some other things.

If its a clean install did these problems happen right after the install? Or did they occur after a program was installed?

go to your SYSTEM and map swap space to a FIX 2x your ram
>>RAM: 3 slots ddr2 Kingston total 3gb
so set 6gb

obviously you need that much free space :)
