How is a clean install done on a laptop with no cd drives

I am working on a Acer Aspire one, not sure if it is a netbook or what but it is full of virus and and problems and doing a clean install seems like the best route and then I notice there is no cd drives.

The easiest way would be an external drive. You could also use a removable drive although that requires a little (not much) work.

external drive meaning external cd drive and that would be the best way to go... I will just go buy one and return it to do this job I guess.

ISO (windows xp) to USB and boot netbook usb ?? is my other route.
