JS/Downloader.Agent

Hi my name is Kristin I have a virus on my computer it is JS/Downloader.Agent I have AVG Security and it says there is an error and can't remove it. I have tried to remove it and have been unsuccessful. Can anyone help me get this yucky thing off my computer??

Go and read Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments. Please post in this thread, only after doing the above.

If you follow all instructions correctly in the above link, thenthe virus should be cleaned. One of us will check your logs after and see if it has gone and see if there are any other nasties on your system.

I am at Step 8 trying to get rid of my virus..It says to click here to download SS&D but it brings me to SpyBot Search and Destroy...Is that the correct download?

I am having a hard time getting past step 7... There are so many options on that webpage. Can you be more specific on what to do at that page

I finished step 11. In the middle of the scan it said "Threats found" then at the end of the scan it said there was no rootkits. I have really had a hard time with this. I am computer illeterate and don't understand anything I am doing. What do I do now?

Hi guys,
I have only just registered as a member of Tech spot.
I am on my mums putter and her avg has found 2 nasties...
1st is this js downoad agent which a fix it is posted on your site and the other is a nasty called agent, not sure what this one is?
Hopfully this will fix both... If I get stuck I am sure goin' yell like a banshie.........for help.....

I am using Ave Free 8.0. Since last week Resident Shield is notifying that there is a virus called JS/Downloader.Agent and closes the Internet Explorer. I tried SmitfraudFix but to no use.
Please Help.

JS/downloader.agent is the pits! I post a lot of web pages, and it was inserting long script lines in my html files that I knew weren't written by me. I was able to remove it with ( smitfraudfix ) in the Safe Mode on my only Windows Based Drive, Windows-2000-Pro. The infection ran past Norton, and for the most part I use Novell/Linux 10/3 KDE. As it is with my Mac, Linux is mostly Virus free, or at least they are for the time being. the PEARL
