Just bought new domain name:should I not expect to be able to upload straighaway?

Its my first one and I'm super eager. Pretty sure I've 'put' the files correctly.

The email from my host said it takes a couple days for the domain name to transfer? What does that mean?

First you purchase a domain name.

Then you arrange for a hosting solution,

and now the hosting system needs to implement the name/assigned ip address
AND the DNS system(s) need to be updated.

Nothing happens at light speed execpt light itself

heh, i guess when it comes to computers i generally (and naively) expect things to be instantaneous, notwithstanding a bit of jerkiness and the odd spinning hour glass .
