Macbook not charging

Guys, I have a Apple Macbook which is not charging only runs from power pack, when Mac is running is says battery not connected, any ideas.

hmm; not good.

shutdown and remove the battery; inspect connectors for debris, corrosion. clean with alcohol.

How old is the Bat? They need to be replaced -- some as much as yearly.

Thanks for the reply jobeard, I have checked and cleaned seems ok but battery is over two years old maybe I have to bite the bullet and buy new one. thank you
