hi all,
i have a media center, running xp, sp3. it became infected a while ago by a virus which took me completely offline, and disabled spybot, windows firewall, and malwarebytes. I have managed to get malwarebytes to run, but it cannot connect to update. the same with spybot.
oddly enough, my realtime scanner, which is provided with my connection, powered by FSecure, indicates it is updating, and shows update logs to prove this. my windows update says it is updating as well.
according to my realtime scanner, and malwarebytes (outdateddefinitions), my computer is clean.
so far those are the only programs i've found that can connect.
everytime i start internet explorer, i get a dns error, suggesting the issue is with the firewall, and to check the ports for http, https, ftp. that doesn't mean much to me.
currently running internet explorer 7, as have not been able to dwnld the update.
thanks
