New PC Build, minor issue

Hello all,

First off, thanks ahead of time for any assistance you can give me on this.

So I am a computer gamer (casual, not hardcore), and after having several bad experiences with store bought computers over the years, I finally did the research, did all the reading and asked a bazillion questions but finally was able to put together (at first) a parts list for a high quality computer. That parts list:

Intel i5-6600K 3.5GHz Skylake processor
ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero motherboard
32GB Corsair Vengeance ddr4 RAM 2133mhz (Part #: cmk32gx4m4a2133c13)

I finally got the money together and built the computer. At first, it fired up like a dream (I even got it to POST on its first boot without having to troubleshoot anything!). For a few weeks, it was fine.

Recently, I've been getting QCode Error 55 on the motherboard LED (more rarely, 43). 55 is "Memory not installed" and 43 is "Memory Initialization Error" if I recall correctly off the top of my head.

So I followed the first troubleshooting guide I found and ended up trying the RAM in different configurations. At this point, I can only boot it with 16GB of RAM in it in the A2 and B2 slots (recommended to use first by mobo manual). If I add the other two sticks, it gives me the 55 Qcode and won't boot. I've double checked the liquid cooler to make sure it's not overtightened. I had an o/c profile on it before the RAM issues started, I've since reset the system to default while troubleshooting - I can reconfigure that later once RAM issues are fixed.

One thing I have yet to test and will report back on: If I swap the 2 DIMMs that are in for the 2 that are out (using the same A2/B2 slots -- as a way to check the RAM itself to ensure its still good.)

Another interesting tidbit... Usually after boot, the motherboard LED will read A0 (according to QCode list that basically means it has handed boot control over to the OS). It's now sometimes reading 40 -- which isn't even listed in the mobo's manual Qcode list OR on the version from ASUS website -- but yet it still boots into the OS!

There is also a handy little CLR_CMOS button on my mobo which, after I post this, I am going to shut down the PC and press, so we'll see if that helps any. Will report back but if anyone has any suggestions on any other troubleshooting tips, I would very much appreciate it.

After a little more RAM testing, I think I have 2 modules that need to be RMA'd. I can boot it up with A&B, but C&D both yield error code 41 when trying to boot with just a single module, and 55 when trying to boot with them together. I use the same a2/b2 slots for all tests, using a2 alone when attempting to boot with a single stick of RAM. Will contact Corsair and see what they have to say.
