Registry Cleanup Tool

Looked on CNET Downloads for reviews of registry tools,
seemed like Advanced System Care free was well liked and
had by far the most downloads, so tried it.

PROBLEMS!! On attempting to restart to make the changes
made by the program such as updating some drivers and
cleaning up some things, Windows 7 wouldn't even start,
Windows did some kind of repair that took quite a long time
and then the program was gone.

Any idea why all that happened?
Is that AdvancedSystemCare free a legit and useful program?

I don't mess with the registry myself but figure it likely could
use some "cleanup".

Looking for good advice, and info about that program

Thanks!!

Hmm; Every time I've used a tool like this, it's caused more damage than good, but others here will swear by Cleanup Tools.

The only cleanup tool I will recommend is CCleaner. But if you continue downloading from CNET, you will need more than CCleaner for cleaning.

This is the first time I've tried any Registry tool, have heard of too many problems with them.
I have used CCleaner for a long time. Without reviewing it, from what I know it doesn't do
anything with the registry?

Out of curiosity, and I've never downloaded anything from CNet other than anti virus and anti
malware and a keyboard encryption tool, with no problems, why do you say that about CNET?
I'm always extremely careful to review and, to the best of my ability, vet anything I download and
install. I can't necessarily say why, but I've always got the impression CNET was a reputable
and reliable source for good recommendations and safe software.

Thanks much!!

CCleaner Registry Cleaner. Please note that the Registry Cleaner is also available in the free version.

The problem with CNET is not so much the application being downloaded. But the bundled applications they tend to package with the download.

I couldn't agree more! When I do download something, I always watch very carefully
not to allow all that extra stuff. Once in a great while something sneaks in but it shows
up somewhere and I am quick to get rid of it.
