Sky Hub, DVR & DDNS

Hi,

I brought a SWANN CCTV system, this is connected to my SKY Hub router, which is fine over wifi but remote access is impossible with out paying syncddns a yearly subscription fee, this because the ip address is constantly changed by the SKY Hub, and you cannot assign a dedicated ip address to the SWANN DVR.

So instead of using syncddns could I add a second router between the SKY Hub and the phone line, connect the Sky Hub to this, assign it a dedicated ip address, or not if its not needed, then connect the DVR to the second router and give it its own unchanging ip address, basically by passing the SKY Hub?

Your thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers

You can manage your LAN addresses in several ways, but the DDNS is used to track the changing public IP address that your ISP sets about every 24hrs - - the Lease Period.

Without mapping this public IP address, whatever you do on your lan is ineffective.
