I am looking for a good spyware remover, however I have no money. I have had spybot on my computer for a long time, but it doesn't identify that many things. I downloaded XoftSpy and that found many more threats, including a nasty trojan. However, it costs money to actually fix the problem.

Any ideas?

with spyware removers you have to use them in combination. I use Ewido, spybot, adaware, and microsft anti spyware beta all in combo.

Unfortunately spyware companies don't all agree on what is spyware / adware and worse some spyware companies threaten to sue spyware removers or pay them to not identify them.

Every carpenter has more than one hammer :)

Yeah, well I use Ad-Aware SE Professional that comes with Ad-Watch. Also, I use Spybot & the TeaTimer tool that comes included. That, combined with Norton Auto-Protect ensures that nothing gets into my system. And I use all three for scanning too. So, yeah its recommended to do so. But what programs u use also depends.....But then, thats another matter. I hope u got ur problems fixed with all the help everyone's given you deanyoung78. Thats what u wanted right? :grinthumb

all i use is spybot, and ad-aware, and i have never had a problem with PC slowness, virus, trojans, etc.
(just had to throw in my opinion)

Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the advice. I've actually used spybot and Ewido. I guess it frustrates me that there is not a single thing that works properly. But then, I'm desperate with both my computers with nasty trojans and adware galore. Mind you, I had spyware blaster and that didn't do much either... lol, I'll just keep on trying, ty.

More problems with spybot

Sorry, I seem to have posted this in the wrong place, so I'm sending it back here... lol

Well, it seems my computer is infected with adware galore and a trojan or two, as Avast tells me I have a few versions of Trojan-gen.

Back to Spybot. I've been trying to download updates for it, and it keeps on telling me the files are corrupted and doesn't let me download them. I finally opted to uninstall it and start over with a new version. However, it was impossible for me to reinstall Spybot. After a long time and my computer acting extra-slow, I got the following message:

NSIS ERROR

The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete.

This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download, or a virus.

You mey want to contact the autor of this installer to obtain a new copy.

It may be possible to skip this check using the \NCRC command line switch. (NOT RECCOMMENDED).

Anyway, don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Also, I downloaded AVG Anti virus and it found a trojan horse downloader.Itsbar.7.K, maybe that has something to do with it?
