Start up problems

hi i was wonderin if anyone had any advice on this issue... just yesterday my friend wanted to let me try out his videocard (ati radeon 9600xt) on my comp so that i could see if i wanted to buy it. so i took out my old nvidia geforce 2 mx400 and put in the new card. i tried to start my comp and the lights came on but it didn't work.... the screen wouldn't show. so i took out the new card and put back in the old one and it still wouldn't start. now the dvd/cd drives won't open and i'm absolutely clueless. please help. thank you.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Make sure that your original video card is properly seated in it`s slot.

Have you tried clearing the cmos. This is usually achieved by use of the cmos jumper on your mobo.

Your mobo manual will tell you how to do this.

Alternativley you can remove the cmos battery for a few seconds and then reinsert it. Please be careful only to hold the battery by it`s edges and not top and bottom as this can short out the battery.

Once the cmos has been reset your bios will be loaded with the default settings, so you may need to reconfigure your bios settings.
